Travis Kelce<\/a> has shared a new update on whether he\u2019s planning to retire<\/a> after the current NFL season.<\/p>\n

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, admitted to reporters that he hadn\u2019t yet made the final call as to whether this will be his last season, according to multiple outlets<\/a> on Friday, November 21.<\/p>\n

Travis explained he was taking cues from his older brother Jason\u2019s NFL retirement<\/a>, sharing that he wanted to show respect to the Chiefs by giving the team as much notice as possible if he decides to walk away.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, seeing my brother go through it and seeing\u2026just how the league works, the season kind of restarts in April, and I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity to know whether I come back or not,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd vice versa. Like, whether they want me back or not, it\u2019s one of those things where I\u2019d like to make that decision before they\u2019ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens up.\u201d<\/p>\n

During a recent chat with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson on \u201cThe Steam Room,\u201d Jason, 37, reflected on getting his brother\u2019s guidance before making his own decision about leaving [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u2019d like to make that decision before they\u2019ve got to get draft picks and free agency opens to fill the roster appropriately\u2026 All that will be at the end of the season. I won\u2019t be thinking about it until then.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speculation has been rife that Travis is gearing up to retire, particularly after he got engaged to Taylor Swift<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Jason, who played for the Philadelphia Eagles, retired at the end of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

The brothers spoke about Jason\u2019s retirement on their \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast in June 2024, with the elder Kelce brother admitting he knew it was time to pack it up.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is when you\u2019re going to start knowing, whenever this time comes, and you need to walk away,\u201d Jason said. \u201c[It\u2019s] the fighting your body, like, you used to be able to do something you can\u2019t do anymore. That\u2019s when it\u2019s like you\u2019re fighting that, to continue to get that back. That\u2019s when it starts to become hard. Bottom line is everyone knows when it\u2019s time for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTravis Kelce won\u2019t be putting his NFL career in the rearview mirror anytime soon. \u201cI have no reason to stop playing football,\u201d Kelce, 34, told reporters at a Thursday, January 11, press conference ahead of the playoffs. On the field, Kelce \u2014 who is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs \u2014 continues to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

The same month, Travis insisted he had no immediate plans to retire from football during a press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to do it until the wheels fall off,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cI can definitely understand that it\u2019s toward the end of the road [more] than the beginning of it. I just gotta make sure I\u2019m set up for after football as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know there\u2019s opportunities outside of football for me. I think you\u2019ve gotta keep in perspective that I\u2019m a little kid when I come in this building.\u201d<\/p>\n

More recently, Travis spoke about his potential retirement plans during an appearance on ESPN\u2019S Monday Night Countdown.<\/p>\n

\u201cMan, I\u2019ll be fortunate to keep having fun with these guys year in year out, man,\u201d Travis said in October. \u201cI take it day by day, year by year.
