The attacker \u2014 a Bangladeshi national, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad \u2014 climbed over a wall and accessed the apartment through a bathroom window using the fire escape. A nurse attending to Saif\u2019s younger son spotted the intruder and raised an alarm. When Saif confronted him, a struggle ensued, during which the actor was stabbed six times, including one near his spine.The intruder demanded a large sum of money before fleeing. Saif was hospitalised and underwent surgery but has since recovered. Mumbai Police later arrested the attacker. A chargesheet has been filed, and the case is now moving to trial.
