Legacy Motor Club and Rick Ware Racing (RWR) officially finalized the end of their cases stemming from the sale of a charter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Legacy, owned by Jimmie Johnson<\/a>, previously sued RWR<\/a>, alleging that the team pulled out of a deal that would have given Johnson’s team another charter in 2026, with the latest addition reportedly worth $45 million. During the legal battle, Legacy also sued T.J. Puchyr, who worked initially with Johnson during the negotiations, after he attempted to purchase the team himself.<\/p>\n Now, the air between Legacy and RWR is clear. The news comes after an eventful year between the two teams<\/a>, marked by numerous court battles and lawsuits involving the various parties involved in the sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n In a joint dismissal, both team permanently released their legal claims, according to Courthouse News Service<\/a>. The dismissal also ends RWR’s countersuit against Johnson and Legacy, releasing the $5 million bond that Legacy put down to secure other charters, per the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n The news comes after the two sides announced that they have reached an agreement. I\u2019m glad this is behind us and we can all move forward in unison.\u201d Rick Ware, the owner of RWR, also released a statement regarding the conclusion that both sides reached, which benefited the two parties in conflict<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI met with both Jimmie and Cal Wells recently and we came to an agreement to sell and transfer a charter from RWR to Legacy Motor Club,” Ware’s statement read in September 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI believe we landed in a mutually beneficial place for both teams and the result will be a clear path forward for us all. I look forward to putting all of our focus on finishing the 2025 season strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
