This week on Dezeen<\/a>, we launched our latest series, Performance Review<\/a>, which will explore the multitude of issues plaguing the architecture and design industry.<\/p>\n

To kick off the serious architecture critic Edwin Heathcote set out 12 things wrong with architecture<\/a>, which created a fervent debate in the comment section.<\/p>\n

We also looked at how architecture fees got so low<\/a>, and Dezeen editorial director Max Fraser posited 10 things wrong with design<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Joe<\/a>Joe Gebbia is the US’ first chief design officer<\/a><\/p>\n

Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia was named America’s first chief design officer<\/a> by president Donald Trump, a role that will focus on increasing the user experience of the government’s websites.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Dezeen<\/a>, Gebbia said the creation of the National Design Studio, which he is running, means that “design is in the White House”.<\/p>\n

\"Birmingham<\/a>Birmingham City FC’s new stadium was designed by Heatherwick Studio<\/a><\/p>\n

In architecture news, Heatherwick Studio unveiled the design for a new stadium for Birmingham City Football Club<\/a> in Birmingham, UK.<\/p>\n

The 62,000-seat stadium will be surrounded by brick chimneys, informed by the city’s former brickwork. It is Heatherwick Studio’s first stadium and was created in collaboration with US studio Manica Architecture and director Steven Knight.<\/p>\n

\"World's<\/a>Ixi has created the world’s first “auto-focus glasses”<\/a><\/p>\n

In design news, Finnish company Ixi revealed what it claims are the world’s first “auto-focus glasses”<\/a>, which feature “tunable” lenses.<\/p>\n

The glasses change their optical power depending on where the wearer is looking and are targeted at people with presbyopia, the farsightedness that people develop with age.<\/p>\n

\"Museo<\/a>Museo Casa Kahlo opens in Frida Kahlo’s family home<\/a><\/p>\n

In Mexico, architect Mariana Doet Zepeda Orozco transformed Casa Roja, the former home of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo’s parents and sister, into a museum dedicated to the life and work of the artist<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Located in Mexico City, Museo Casa Kahlo features experience and exhibit design by Rockwell Group, and graphic design and creative direction by Pentagram and Ileen Gallagher.<\/p>\n

\"David<\/a>David Adjaye has commented on reports of his alleged sexual assault<\/a><\/p>\n

In some of his first on-the-record comments since sexual assault allegations came to light, architect David Adjaye called the reporting on his alleged sexual misconduct “deeply unfair”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following his comments, we looked at how the architect appears to be slowly returning to public life in an article asking Will David Adjaye be re-accepted by the architectural establishment?<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Temple<\/a>The “quiet but powerful” Temple House was popular this week<\/a><\/p>\n

Popular projects on Dezeen this week included the family home Temple House in Melbourne<\/a>, a “landscape hotel” featuring cedar-clad cabins<\/a> and a house in Cornwall with barn-like volumes<\/a>.<\/p>\n
