ALLENDALE, Mich. – It took eight rounds and No. 4 seed Maryville got past the No. 8 Lady Jackets on PK’s in the second round of the Midwest Regional.

Cedarville had two chances to end it in the shootout, but the Saints eventually survived, 5-4.

Quotable: Head Coach Jonathan Meade

“This has been an amazing season capped off with our greatest weekend of soccer and perhaps in our program’s history. To play against two of the best teams in the country and not lose either game speaks volumes of the heart and fight in this team. I could not be prouder of them.

“I’m grateful for our three seniors Sophie (Browndyke), Maddie (McConnell) and Kaelan (Swallow). This trio has been instrumental in the success on the field for this team, but more importantly instrumental in the lives of their teammates and this program. This is a special group and they have been an absolute joy to coach.”

Stinger Notes:

Cedarville made its fifth NCAA appearance and advanced to the the second round for the third straight time.

The Lady Jackets outscored the opposition, 41-13.

Swallow’s 0.53 goals against average is a school record for a season breaking Brooke Ackley’s mark of 0.54 (2021).

The team’s 12 shutouts was one shy of the program record of 13 set in 2019.

However, the team goals against average of 0.58 nipped the previous mark of 0.59 by the 2019 NCCAA Championship squad.
