{"id":301382,"date":"2025-11-23T08:55:29","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T08:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/301382\/"},"modified":"2025-11-23T08:55:29","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T08:55:29","slug":"canadas-zach-edey-posts-double-double-to-lead-grizzlies-over-mavericks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/301382\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada&#8217;s Zach Edey posts double-double to lead Grizzlies over Mavericks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DALLAS \u2014 Santi Aldama scored 20 points, including a left-handed driving shot that began a tiebreaking 6-0 run for Memphis in the final minute, and Cam Spencer added 15 of his 17 points off the bench in the second half as the Grizzlies beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/basketball\/nba\/teams\/dallas-mavericks\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"dallas-mavericks\" data-league=\"nba\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Dallas Mavericks<\/a> 102-96 on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/basketball\/nba\/players\/zach-edey\/4ea56b9e-562d-4f19-a0e1-ea0e1da19688\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"4ea56b9e-562d-4f19-a0e1-ea0e1da19688\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Zach Edey<\/a> had 12 points and a season-high 15 rebounds for his first double-double in four games since returning from off-season ankle surgery for the Grizzlies (6-11), who have won consecutive games for the first time this season.<\/p>\n<p>Klay Thompson scored a season-high 22 off the bench and matched a season best with six 3-pointers for the Mavericks (5-13), who split a home back-to-back and have yet to win consecutive games this season.<\/p>\n<p>After Memphis\u2019 Cedric Coward followed Aldama\u2019s basket with a free throw with 27.6 seconds left, Thompson\u2019s straightaway 3-pointer from 29 feet banged off the rim seconds later and was rebounded by Memphis\u2019 Vince Williams Jr. Thompson and Williams had words early in the fourth quarter, resulting in technical fouls on both.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas rookie Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 pick in this year\u2019s NBA draft, had 12 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes after scoring a season-high 29 in Friday\u2019s 118-113 win over New Orleans.<\/p>\n<p>The Mavericks led 46-43 at halftime, the Grizzlies\u2019 lowest-scoring first half this season. When Memphis beat Dallas 118-104 on Nov. 7, the Grizzlies scored 74 points in the first half.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams lost big men to injury. Memphis\u2019 Jock Landale left in the first quarter with a neck injury. Dallas\u2019 P.J.
