A Chicago MMA fighter died after being injured in his bout on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Isaac Johnson, 31, died at Cicero Stadium in a suburb of Chicago, the Cook County Medical Examiner\u2019s office announced, according to NBC 4 Chicago<\/a>. <\/p>\n

No cause of death has been revealed yet.<\/p>\n

An ambulance took an injured fighter, who was identified as Johnson, to Loyola Medical Center on Friday at 8:38 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n

There, he was pronounced dead at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, a spokesperson for the town of Cicero confirmed to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Johnson was promoted as taking part in a heavyweight Thai Boxing bout at the Matador Fighter Challenge, per the promotion\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event was being sold as\u00a0\u201cthe ultimate MMA and Thai event, where local warriors will battle it out in high-stakes, high-intensity matches.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

The event\u2019s promoter, Joe Goyita, spoke out about the events and Johnson\u2019s death on his Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a post I hoped to never make, last night one of the fighters in our event Isaac Johnson collapsed towards end of his fight,\u201d Goyita said. \u201cMedical attention was given by medical staff on hand and he was transported to hospital. I was then informed at around 130 am this morning that he didn\u2019t make it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have the words to express how I feel right now, all I can say is my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and teammates.
