While payment dates vary from month to month, both benefits are usually paid on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re still receiving your benefits in the mail, make sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/public-services-procurement\/services\/payments-to-from-government\/direct-deposit\/individuals-canada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">sign up for direct deposit<\/a> to avoid delays in your payments.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re unsure of whether you qualify for the benefits, read on to see if you meet the eligibility requirements.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"CPP payment\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2058328\" style=\"color:transparent\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/shutterstock_2510576405.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-2058328\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">chayanuphol\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>This is a monthly, taxable benefit that\u2019s meant to replace part of eligible Canadians\u2019 income upon retirement and is paid for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for a CPP payment, you must have made at least one valid contribution to the pension and be at least 60 years old. Canadians can still receive their full pension even if they\u2019re under 70 and still working; contributing to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/services\/benefits\/publicpensions\/cpp\/cpp-post-retirement.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">CPP post-retirement benefit<\/a> can increase their pension.<\/p>\n<p>The amount you receive will depend on when you decided to start your pension, the amount you contributed, how much you earned throughout your working life, and how long you contributed to the CPP. New beneficiaries aged 65 will receive an average monthly payment of $899.67. The maximum monthly payment you can receive at age 65 is $1,433.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians aged 65 and older can qualify for the OAS pension regardless of their work history.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians aged 65 to 74\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/services\/benefits\/publicpensions\/old-age-security\/benefit-amount.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">can receive up to $740.09 per month<\/a> in 2025 if their annual net world income in 2024 was less than $148,451.
