Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson is now 2-0 in his mixed martial arts career and he\u2019s spent less than two minutes total in the cage.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Steveson was promoted to the main event for APFC 21 \u2014 a promotion run by former UFC champion Anthony Pettis \u2014 and he needed just 24 seconds to deliver a brutal knockout.<\/p>\n
Steveson got the knockout after he started dipping low for a takedown and simultaneously went up top with a devastating left hand that clipped opponent Kevin Hein and sent him crashing to the canvas in a heap. He actually continued moving forward with the takedown but the fight was already over as Hein was unconscious before he hit the floor.<\/p>\n
The referee rushed in to stop the fight with Steveson getting the lightning quick finish.<\/p>\n
Steveson\u2019s latest win comes after he needed just 15 seconds to get a knockout win in Dirty Boxing but that doesn\u2019t go on his MMA record.<\/p>\n
Still, the potential is obviously there for Steveson, who is undoubtedly one of the best prospects in recent history to make the move into MMA.<\/p>\n
A credentialed wrestler with multiple NCAA Championships, Steveson captured gold at the 2020 Olympics. With that win, Steveson became the youngest American wrestler to ever win a gold medal.<\/p>\n
After a brief stint in WWE, Steveson turned his attention back to fighting after joining Jon Jones\u2019 training camp as he was getting ready to face Stipe Miocic. Steveson now counts Jones as a mentor, friend and one of his main coaches as he continues to making his climb towards eventually joining the roster at the UFC><\/p>\n
In his post-fight interview, Steveson mentioned UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard by name again \u2014 he did the same after his debut win \u2014 and there\u2019s little doubt he\u2019s already on the promotion\u2019s radar for the future.<\/p>\n
