As HBO prepares to release the Harry Potter series with a new cast and a fresh long-form adaptation, longtime fans continue to wonder whether the original trio \u2014 Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint \u2014 might revisit the Wizarding World. With Tom Felton recently stepping back into Draco Malfoy\u2019s shoes on Broadway<\/a>, speculation has only intensified. Now, Grint is addressing those return rumors directly.<\/p>\n

HBO\u2019s reboot is the start of a new era for the franchise, nearly 25 years after the first film premiered. Dominic McLaughlin<\/a>, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will take over the iconic roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. With only one franchise star confirmed to return so far, many viewers have looked to Grint for clues about his future, including whether he might follow Felton\u2019s lead.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the BBC<\/a>, Grint admitted he\u2019s unsure about returning to the role that defined his childhood. \u201cMaybe in the future. Never say never, but for now, I think, as much as I loved it, I\u2019m enjoying stepping outside of that world,\u201d he said. The actor noted that although Ron Weasley\u2019s legacy still follows him, he embraces it rather than resisting it. \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever quite step out of his shadow, but I\u2019m fine with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement of the new young actors brought back a wave of nostalgia for Grint, who was just 11 when he was cast. The moment Stout was confirmed as the new Ron took him right back to his early days in the franchise. \u201cI still remember every second of it,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n

Along the same lines, despite his hesitations about returning, Grint supports the idea of his own children stepping into the Harry Potter world someday. \u201cI don\u2019t see why not. It was so much fun,\u201d he said, adding that his five-year-old daughter, Wednesday, has already enjoyed watching small, less scary clips from the films.<\/p>\n
