{"id":304125,"date":"2025-11-24T16:58:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T16:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/304125\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T16:58:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T16:58:08","slug":"lizzo-on-mental-health-at-start-of-her-weight-loss-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/304125\/","title":{"rendered":"Lizzo on Mental Health at Start of Her Weight Loss Journey\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Content warning: This story discusses suicidal ideation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/lizzo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lizzo<\/a> is speaking out about a dark time.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cAbout Damn Time\u201d singer recalled her mental health taking a turn for the worse amid a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1381947\/lizzo-sued-by-former-dancers-for-alleged-sexual-harassment-and-weight-shaming\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lawsuit filed by her former dancers<\/a>, and how it inspired her health and fitness journey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started losing weight in the fall of 2023,\u201d Lizzo, 37,\u00a0wrote on a <a href=\"https:\/\/lizzoirl.substack.com\/p\/why-is-everybody-losing-weight-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Substack <\/a>post Nov. 23. \u201cI was severely depressed. I had been the subject of a vicious scandal, and it felt like the whole world turned its back on me. I became deeply suicidal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI cut off all my loved ones. I couldn\u2019t trust anyone because during the scandal,\u201d she continued. \u201cFormer close colleagues and friends (who I\u2019d been on pleasant or neutral terms), started to come out and make things up about me. God knows why. I supposed to kick me while I\u2019m down?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the pushback she got during the time of the lawsuit\u2014which she shared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1411443\/lizzo-shares-rare-update-on-sexual-harassment-lawsuit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">she was dismissed from in 2024<\/a>\u2014she was in a period of \u201cextreme isolation\u201d and anger, that she would typically fix with what she described as unhealthy eating habits.
