Coming off a rookie campaign that saw him pilot the Commanders<\/a> to a 12-5 record, a playoff berth, and one win away from the Super Bowl, Jayden Daniels has definitely been bitten by the ‘sophomore jinx’ in year two.<\/p>\n

The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and former Heisman Trophy winner has only appeared in six games in 2025, thanks to a dislocated elbow. Now, ESPN insider Ian Rapoport has stated on social media that the young QB will hit the practice field this week.<\/p>\n

“#Commanders<\/a> QB Jayden Daniels was evaluated coming out of Washington\u2019s bye, and sources say this Sunday\u2019s game against the #Broncos<\/a> is a long-shot,”\u00a0he reported on X<\/a>. But Daniels will return to practice this week. Progress from his dislocated elbow.”<\/p>\n

Should Daniels risk a return?\"Jayden<\/p>\n

The Commanders are now 3-8 on the year, with no chance of making the playoffs. And with Rapoport making it clear that he likely wouldn’t be able to return until at least Week 14, is it too much of a risk for the team to suit up their franchise quarterback for a handful of meaningless games?<\/p>\n

Reps in practice will be fine for the 24-year-old. But with a multitude of injuries and a season that’s already lost, the Commanders’ front office and coach Dan Quinn may put him on ice until training camp 2026.<\/p>\n

Washington will host the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos<\/a> (9-2) on Sunday Night Football this weekend. Marcus Mariota will get the start at QB for the Commanders.<\/p>\n
