Max Holloway<\/a> was confirmed to be missing the rest of 2025<\/a> in the aftermath of his appearance in July\u2019s UFC 318<\/a> in New Orleans. That evening, Holloway, nicknamed \u201cBlessed,\u201d sustained a hand injury during his unanimous decision win over Dustin Poirier\u00a0<\/a>in \u201cThe Diamond\u2019s\u201d final career appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy right hand still hurts,\u201d Max Holloway said in August. \u201cIf you have hopes of me fighting before the end of the year, it\u2019s probably not going to happen. I\u2019m seeing a specialist sometime this week and I already met with my doctor. Now, I\u2019ve got to meet with a specialist but things are not looking up for me fighting one more time this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the wake of what he referred to as a \u201cstupid injury,\u201d Holloway has been like MMA fans the world over, watching the fights and critiquing the fighters. Recently, he made an appearance on<\/a> Chan Sung Jung\u2019s official YouTube channel to discuss the top pugilists in MMA\u2019s No. 1 promotion.<\/p>\n

Max Holloway Reiterates Status as Top Boxer in UFC in Appearance on Korean Zombie\u2019s YouTube Channel<\/p>\n

During his discussion with The Korean Zombie, Holloway had one person in mind as it relates to the conversation for the No. 1 boxer in the UFC, himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t think I\u2019m the best boxer in the UFC, that\u2019s something you need to take up with yourself,\u201d Max Holloway told Chan Sung Jung\u2019s YouTube audience on Sunday. \u201cWhen I look [at] myself in the mirror, I tell myself I\u2019m the best boxer in the UFC and that\u2019s why I\u2019m one of the best fighters in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBlessed\u201d says that he\u2019s wasting no time on Internet trolls who think otherwise.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just need self-confidence,\u201d he said. \u201cNo Internet guy that lives with his mom that\u2019s talking to me on his mom\u2019s Internet is ever going to shake me. Everybody\u2019s like \u2018Why do you reply to them\u2019?, and I say \u2018Because it\u2019s funny’\u201d!<\/p>\n

Max Holloway\u2019s Got the Stats to Back Up His Claim<\/p>\n

Max Holloway\u2019s claim that he\u2019s the best boxer in the UFC is not one without merit. One need look no further than the main event of the first UFC card in 2021.<\/p>\n

That winter\u2019s Saturday, the UFC aired for the first time on the ABC Television Network inside the United States. Holloway headlined the UFC Fight Island card in a five-round fight versus Calvin Kattar.<\/p>\n

Max Holloway battered Kattar over the course of 25 minutes of action that evening. In so doing, he set a UFC promotional record for total strikes landed in a fight with 447. This record was eclipsed three months ago in Chicago by Khamzat Chimaev, who teed off for 529 total strikes against Dricus du Plessis in UFC 319.<\/p>\n

Holloway Weighs In on Social Media Use<\/p>\n

The conversation wasn\u2019t limited to whose striking is best in the UFC. Later on in the show, Max Holloway circled back to use of social networks and how he thinks it\u2019s detrimental to people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have weak mentality, please go get help,\u201d he said. \u201cGet something before you get on a livestream or you get on social media period. Social media is the devil. The funny thing is that I always tell people that come to the livestream or even comment on my things or comment on Instagram talking wildness, I\u2019m like \u2018Brother, you\u2019re the same person that if you saw me in-person, you\u2019d be asking\u00a0 Can I get a picture? Can I a signature?’\u201d.<\/p>\n

Opinions on social media use aside, when Max Holloway stated his case that he\u2019s still the best boxer in the UFC even with a failed bid for the UFC Featherweight Championship on his resume, he means it.<\/p>\n
