The latest entry in the classic action-adventure franchise starring <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/tom-cruise\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tom-cruise\" data-tag=\"tom-cruise\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Cruise<\/a> will debut exclusively on <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/paramount-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paramount-2\" data-tag=\"paramount-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount+<\/a> on Dec. 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStarring Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg and more, \u201cThe Final Reckoning\u201d picks up in the wake of \u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 Dead Reckoning,\u201d as Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his globetrotting team of agents continue their mission to destroy the Entity, a mysterious and all-powerful AI, before it falls into the wrong hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOther returning cast members include Briggs (Shea Wingham), Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett), Luther (Ving Rhames), Gabriel (Eassi Morales) and Paris (Pom Klementieff). Franchise newcomers Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Katy O\u2019Brian, Holt McCallany and Tramell Tillman also star. \u201cThe Final Reckoning\u201d is the eighth installment in the 29-year-old franchise, which began with Brian De Palma\u2019s original 1996 film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe Final Reckoning\u201d premiered with a special, out-of-competition presentation on May 14 at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, with Cruise and writer-director Christopher McQuarrie both in attendance. McQuarrie has helmed the past three installments of the \u201cMission Impossible\u201d franchise, including \u201cRogue Nation\u201d in 2015, \u201cFallout\u201d in 2018, and \u201cDead Reckoning\u201d in 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFollowing the Cannes premiere, \u201cMission: Impossible \u2013 The Final Reckoning\u201d hit theaters in the United States May 23.
