NASCAR<\/a> is facing one of the most uncertain moments in its modern era, according to former driver and veteran analyst Kenny Wallace, who says panic is quietly spreading across the industry as a significant legal showdown threatens the sport\u2019s very structure.<\/p>\n

Kenny Wallace Thinks NASCAR\u2019s Future Is at Stake<\/p>\n

Speaking candidly on social media, Wallace described the sport\u2019s current environment as \u201ca dark day for NASCAR,\u201d claiming that insiders from all corners of the garage have been calling him in fear of what comes next.<\/p>\n

The anxiety stems from the ongoing antitrust lawsuit filed by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports against NASCAR, which could redefine the sport\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Wallace said<\/a>, \u201cSo here we are. This is a dark day for NASCAR. And it\u2019s dark because everybody\u2019s calling me right now. And I\u2019m not bragging on myself \u2013 I\u2019m just saying everybody\u2019s starting to panic. \u2018Are we going to Daytona next year? What happens if the judge says it\u2019s monopolistic practices?\u2019 In the worst scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I just read this from some of the other journalists in NASCAR, and they said worst scenario: NASCAR gets split up. What does that mean? How does that look?\u201d Wallace asked.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The most alarming projection among journalists and insiders is a big divide. A legal ruling against NASCAR could lead to structural changes, a redistribution of power, or even the creation of a rival sanctioning body.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to give my opinion. When you look at Formula 1, they\u2019re owned by Liberty Media,\u201d said Wallace. \u201cWhen you look at NASCAR, they are my life. I want you all to know how much I love NASCAR. Now I\u2019m getting ready to say something I don\u2019t want to say, but I want you to know how much the France family means to me. I love the France family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wallace, who has long expressed loyalty to the France family, made it clear that his criticism stems from his love for the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy point is this: those days are gone. There\u2019s nobody in NASCAR scaring us like Big Bill and Bill Jr., and Mike Helton. They\u2019re all gone. The guys that scared us \u2013 they\u2019re gone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people can say it\u2019s a dictatorship. I\u2019m like, that\u2019s a pretty strong word. That\u2019s kind of like Julius Caesar, but it worked, because Big Bill, Bill Jr., and Mike Helton \u2013 they were men, and they scared the hell out of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wallace suggested that the sport\u2019s rapid growth and billion-dollar business model may have surpassed the capacity of a single family to govern.<\/p>\n

\u201cNASCAR has got so big that it has outgrown them,\u201d explained Wallace. \u201cYou look at Formula 1 \u2013 a media group owns them now. We\u2019re dealing with $1 billion-a-year contracts. Is it time for NASCAR to sell to NBC? I mean, Fox bought a third of Roger Penske\u2019s IndyCar. If Fox TV can buy a third of IndyCar, if Liberty Media Group can own Formula 1, has the sport of NASCAR got so big that it has passed NASCAR, the family?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope not,\u201d added Wallace.<\/p>\n
