Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch with up to 30 to 50 cm of snow expected in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County. <\/p>\n

Snow squalls are expected to begin Thursday morning and could continue into the weekend. Near zero visibility is possible at times.<\/p>\n

“Make sure you’re taking extra precautions if you’re heading out on the roads,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder. “So keeping safe distance, giving yourself extra time to get to where you’re going to travel.”<\/p>\n

The weather agency warns travel may be hazardous and some routes may be impassable. Road closures are also possible. <\/p>\n

A special weather statement for gusty winds of up to 80 km\/h has been issued as well in Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County. <\/p>\n

According to Environment Canada’s statement, southwest winds will shift to the west Wednesday night and then to the northwest Thursday afternoon or evening. <\/p>\n

Environment Canada warns the strong winds may toss loose objects and cause local power outages.
