{"id":307724,"date":"2025-11-26T08:21:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T08:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/307724\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T08:21:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T08:21:07","slug":"madrid-officials-dismiss-rumors-2026-debut-at-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/307724\/","title":{"rendered":"Madrid officials dismiss rumors 2026 debut at risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) Madrid authorities have moved quickly to deny Italian reports that the Spanish capital\u2019s new \u2018Madring\u2019 Formula 1 circuit may not be ready in time for its scheduled 2026 debut \u2013 with Imola rumored as a possible replacement.<\/p>\n<p>The speculation was triggered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rmcmotori.com\/f1\/f-1-gp-madrid-esclusivo-ecco-a-che-punto-sono-i-lavori-fra-ritardi-e-burocrazia-imola-spera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">RMC Motori<\/a>, whose reporters visited the construction site and described \u201cidle excavators\u201d, large undeveloped dirt areas and little visible progress, claiming Liberty Media sources had leaked concerns about delays.<\/p>\n<p>One staff member was even quoted as saying \u201cwhat track?\u201d when asked at the IFEMA Madrid entrance.<\/p>\n<p>But officials in Spain insist the project is not only on schedule, but in some stages ahead of it.<\/p>\n<p>Circuit organisers told <a href=\"https:\/\/soymotor.com\/f1\/noticias\/ninguna-alarma-en-madring-las-obras-los-plazos-y-el-origen-de-los-rumores-italianos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Soy Motor<\/a>: \u201cThe work is completely on schedule. There is no concern whatsoever regarding the deadlines, and the Grand Prix will be held on the planned dates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Madrid\u2019s Regional Minister Miguel Angel Garcia Martin echoed the message: \u201cThe people of Madrid can be very calm. The works are progressing well and each and every one of the planned tasks is being carried out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that construction began in May and remains aligned with the target of completing the circuit by the end of May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida was even more emphatic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know where that news came from,\u201d he told reporters. \u201cThe circuit is ahead of schedule and progressing perfectly.
