An alleged criminal organization with close ties to the Hells Angels was dismantled in Edmonton and 19 people were arrested, authorities say, following an 11-month investigation that stretched across the Edmonton area and into British Columbia.<\/p>\n
The Edmonton Police Service says seven suspects ranging in age from 28 to 58 \u2013 from Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Androssan and Alberta Beach \u2013 have been charged. Additional charges are anticipated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presence of this club in Edmonton would pose a threat to our city,\u201d Insp. Darrin Gordon with the EPS organized crime branch. <\/p>\n
Police allege their investigation into the One Order Motorcycle Club (MC) \u2013 an organization with chapters in Eastern Canada looking to establish itself in Alberta\u2019s capital \u2013 uncovered firearms trafficking, extortion, robbery and assaults.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the investigation culminated when 200 officers executed search warrants across 40 locations in Alberta and B.C. on Sept. 23. Police say they seized:<\/p>\n
19 firearms<\/p>\n
Numerous prohibited weapons<\/p>\n
Replica firearms<\/p>\n
Thousands of rounds of ammunition<\/p>\n
Two bullet-proof vests<\/p>\n
50,000 contraband cigarettes<\/p>\n
$118,000 in cash<\/p>\n
A steroid manufacturing and pill pressing operation with more than 82,000 pills in Sherwood Park.<\/p>\n
Police say they arrested 18 suspects during the raids \u2013 members of the One Order Motorcycle Club and its alleged associates, including a \u201cfull-patched\u201d Hells Angels member and an identified firearm supplier. A 19th suspect turned himself in the following day, police add.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 45 minutes, we had seven of them under arrest, so it went off seamlessly,\u201d said Staff Sgt, Marco Antonio of the EPS organized crime branch.<\/p>\n
The investigation by the EPS drug and gang enforcement section (EDGE), supported by the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region, began in October 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough there is more work to be done on this file, with more charges to be laid and investigative leads to examine, this is a major accomplishment in disrupting organized crime,\u201d said Antonio. \u201cThis investigation is a shining example of the tenacity of the EDGE Section, and what can be accomplished when multiple agencies work together.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis coordinated effort demonstrates the level of enforcement that can be taken against the most sophisticated criminal organizations to improve public safety and I am extremely proud of the work done by my teams.\u201d<\/p>\n
Of those arrested, seven have been charged with offences ranging from firearms trafficking to participation in activities of a criminal organization. Of the remaining 12 suspects, 10 are currently facing charges.<\/p>\n
Correction: Edmonton police initially said 26 suspects were arrested in total.
