Polish promotion Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki (KSW) released huge news in the world of MMA on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

They took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce a new rule with regard to weight<\/a> misses. The statement<\/a> can be found here:<\/p>\n

\u201cKSW would like to announce that starting from XTB KSW 113 apart from losing a part of his or her salary, each fighter who fails to make the weight limit at the morning weigh-ins on the day before the event shall also lose a point in the first round of the actual fight. This penalty will apply to everyone who will not make the required weight limit in their given time, meaning during the morning weigh-ins on Friday and in the additional hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

KSW Make Big Change \u2013 Will Others Follow?<\/p>\n

The change made to the KSW ruleset is big for MMA. It\u2019s a major promotion that is finally cracking down on fighters failing to make weight, something that is written into every fighter\u2019s contract when they sign on the dotted line.<\/p>\n

KSW don\u2019t have a rich history with fighters constantly missing weight. The last time a KSW fighter missed weight was in the main event of KSW 108 when Adam Soldaev came in heavy.<\/p>\n

The UFC has a far bigger issue with fighters missing weight. Six fighters have missed weight on the PPV cards of the year and despite financial penalties, they aren\u2019t hindered in the fight at all.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s time that the UFC took KSW\u2019s ruleset on board. Every fighter who misses weight should begin the first round being able to score a maximum of nine points (essentially starting with a point deduction).<\/p>\n

There is no doubt that this would drastically reduce the number of fighters missing weight as no one wants to begin a fight down on the cards before a punch is thrown.<\/p>\n

A big step forward in the world of MMA weight misses.<\/p>\n
