Dow futures were up 0.07 per cent, S&amp;P 500 futures 0.17 rose per cent and Nasdaq futures were 0.25 per cent higher as of 7:30 a.m. ET. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">TSX futures followed sentiment higher after Canada\u2019s main stock index hit at a fresh record close yesterday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">Overseas, the pan-European STOXX 600 was up 0.15 per cent in morning trading. Britain\u2019s FTSE 100 slipped 0.15 per cent, Germany\u2019s DAX was flat and France\u2019s CAC 40 increased 0.24 per cent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">In Asia, Japan\u2019s Nikkei closed 1.85 per cent higher, while Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng rose 0.13 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Commodities<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">Oil prices were steady after sliding to a one-month low yesterday as investors assessed prospects of oversupply and talks over a Russia-Ukraine peace deal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">Brent crude futures gained 13 US cents to US$62.61 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 19 US cent at US$58.14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">\u201cThe market remains fundamentally skewed to the downside, with investors increasingly pricing in an oversupplied 2026 and no convincing demand catalyst to offset it,\u201d said Phillip Nova analyst Priyanka Sachdeva. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">In other commodities, spot gold was up 1 per cent to US$4,172.18 an ounce. U.S. gold futures for December delivery rose 0.7 per cent at US$4,168.70 an ounce.<\/p>\n<p>Currencies and bonds<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">The Canadian dollar strengthened against its U.S. counterpart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">The day range on the loonie was 70.88 US cents to 71.09 US cents in early trading. The Canadian dollar was down about 1.03 per cent against the greenback over the past month. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">The U.S. dollar index, which weighs the greenback against a group of currencies, rose 0.11 per cent to 99.79. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-article-body__text text-pr-5\">The euro inched up 0.05 per cent to US$1.1578.
