Devin Haney just recently appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show to discuss his most recent world title win when he beat Brian Norman Jr last weekend. Here, Haney gives his reaction to what transpired in the fight and explains why he\u2019s satisfied with the performance he put on before reacting to Conor Benn who was ringside for his fight.<\/p>\n
Haney on how close he thought he was to stopping Norman<\/p>\n
\u201cI think I was very, very close. I think the ref did a phenomenal job but we were exchanging and he broke it up and he warned me for something, I forgot what it was, I think for maybe behind the head or something like that, I\u2019m not sure. But I think that if that didn\u2019t happen I would\u2019ve stopped him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was still able to showcase me being versatile. I think maybe if I would\u2019ve knocked him out in the second round they would\u2019ve said I got him with a lucky shot or whatever. I was able to show my skills, I showed my full arsenal and I\u2019m happy with the outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Norman\u2019s low punch output in the fight<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s everyone, against me. They have a low punch output, they have the lowest punch output against me and that\u2019s from me handicapping him. We studied him day in and day out so we knew what he was going to do, we knew his weaknesses, we knew the things that he was good at, and the things that he was good at we took away from him.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Conor Benn being highlighted as being bored while watching his fight ringside<\/p>\n
\u201cEddie\u2019s little puppet. Eddie is his master so he does what Eddie wants him to do. Conor Benn hasn\u2019t accomplished nowhere near what I\u2019ve accomplished. If we both were to retire today, ask boxers, ask fans whose career they would rather have, my career or Conor Benn\u2019s career. And I\u2019m younger than Conor Benn. He hasn\u2019t accomplished nothing. He hasn\u2019t done nothing in the sport of boxing. His biggest win is against a weight-drained guy that he lost the first fight. He had to rematch him to get a win against a guy that was weight-drained\u2026I love Chris Eubank but he was never even world champion. So you can\u2019t even put us in the same sentence.
