This year\u2019s edition of the RSD sister event is due to take place on Friday (November 28). To celebrate, David Byrne<\/a> and co. are sharing a 11-track vinyl, \u2018Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live\u2019, with an accompanying 7\u2033.<\/p>\n

The project contains very early versions of \u2018Psycho Killer\u2019 and \u2018Warning Sign\u2019 from when the NYC band were known as The Artistics.<\/p>\n

As Brooklyn Vegan<\/a> reports, the recordings were believed to be lost until they were recently discovered in the Rhode Island School Of Design archives.<\/p>\n

Talking Heads have shared some details about the collection on social media, writing: \u201cBEFORE THEY WERE TALKING HEADS: Band members Chris Frantz and David Byrne met at Rhode Island School Of Design and made music as The Artistics. In the spring semester of 1974, the band gathered in Chris\u2019s apartment to record a demo tape featuring tracks that eventually became classics in the Talking Heads discography \u2013 \u2018Psycho Killer\u2019 and \u2018Warning Sign\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver 50 years later, you can now listen to this newly discovered material, plus live tracks recorded by the original trio lineup of @frantzchris, @davidbyrneofficial, and Tina Weymouth, on \u2018Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The LP and 7\u2033\u00a0\u201ctraces the band\u2019s progression from raw punk minimalism to a more structured, angular musical approach that reflects broader shifts in post-punk aesthetics of the late 1970s\u201d.<\/p>\n

Per the announcement, the releases are only available at participating record stores on Black Friday.<\/p>\n

Over the summer, Byrne insisted that Talking Heads wouldn\u2019t \u201cgo out on tour again\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 despite them reuniting for a Q&A in 2023<\/a>, around their Stop Making Sense re-release.<\/p>\n

\u201cMusically, I\u2019ve gone to a very different place,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd I also felt like there\u2019s been a fair number of reunion records and tours. And some of them were probably pretty good. Not very many.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer said around the same time that embarking on a comeback would be \u201ca fool\u2019s errand\u201d<\/a>, adding that he was \u201creally enjoying\u201d the work he was creating currently as a solo artist.<\/p>\n

In other news, Byrne recently opened up about the possibility of him being on the spectrum<\/a>, and how music had helped him with his social skills.<\/p>\n

David Byrne is set to headline Latitude 2026<\/a> next summer alongside Lewis Capaldi<\/a> and Teddy Swims<\/a>, after performing at Mad Cool in Madrid<\/a>. His UK and Ireland headline tour takes place in March. Find any remaining tickets here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
