{"id":309511,"date":"2025-11-27T04:36:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T04:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/309511\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T04:36:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T04:36:07","slug":"caleb-boushley-signs-with-kbos-kt-wiz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/309511\/","title":{"rendered":"Caleb Boushley Signs With KBO&#8217;s KT Wiz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization announced this week that they\u2019ve signed former Brewers, Twins and Rangers righty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/b\/boushca01.shtml?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.mlbtraderumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-11-26_br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Caleb Boushley<\/a> to a one-year contract. He\u2019ll be guaranteed $900K on the contract and can pick up an additional $100K via incentives.<\/p>\n<p>Boushley, who turned 32 in October, has pitched in parts of three big league seasons, totaling 49 2\/3 innings. He has an ugly 5.80 ERA to show for it despite generally solid rate stats. Boushley\u2019s 21.1% strikeout rate is only about one percentage point shy of average, and his 8.1% walk rate is lower than the league average. He\u2019s also yielded only 1.09 homers per nine innings pitched. However, Boushley has been dogged by a sky-high .367 average on balls in play, which has contributed to a 62% strand rate that\u2019s more than 10 percentage points lower than the MLB average. Metrics like SIERA (3.95) and FIP (4.03) feel Boushley has pitched far better than his more rudimentary earned run average would suggest.<\/p>\n<p>In parts of six Triple-A seasons, Boushley has totaled 512 innings with a 4.61 ERA. As in the majors, he\u2019s displayed a lower-than-average strikeout rate but better-than-average command. Boushley has generally been a durable source of Triple-A innings. Though he spent most of the 2025 season in the Rangers\u2019 bullpen, the lanky 6\u20193\u2033, 190-pound Boushley averaged 25 starts and 130 innings per season from 2021-24, despite spending a portion of that time (2023-24) shuttling between the majors and minors.<\/p>\n<p>This will be Boushley\u2019s first work overseas and will easily be the largest guaranteed payday in what\u2019ll be ten professional seasons. Boushley was a 33rd-round pick by the Padres out of Division-II University of Wisconsin La Crosse back in 2017. He signed for just $1,000 out of the draft.
