In a Nov. 23 video<\/a> posted to her Instagram account, influencer Sara Burnett<\/a> can be seen bopping her head to Josiah Queen’s gospel song “The Prodigal.”<\/p>\n Text over the video reads, “Are you the mom that got up in the middle of Wicked and walked out with your kids?”<\/p>\n In her caption, the momfluencer went on to explain that she was “shook” with how the movie was handled, especially for young viewers. The film is rated PG for “action\/violence, some suggestive material and thematic material.”<\/p>\n While Burnett clarified that she and her family are big musical fans, she also made it clear that Wicked was not her or her family’s speed.<\/p>\n Sincerely, SaraB\/Instagram<\/p>\n Sara Burnett.<\/p>\n “Gosh I am not sitting in a movie that is casting legit spells over me and my family and allowing my children to watch scenes where men are sexually taking off women\u2019s clothing and music that is talking about them laying in bed together,” she wrote in her caption.<\/p>\n Burnett is most likely referring to a scene from the movie during which the characters Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo<\/a>) and Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey<\/a>) sing “As Long as You’re Mine.” During the scene, the pair kiss and later can be seen lying in a bed together, with Fiyero shirtless.<\/p>\n Continuing on, the influencer also went on to claim that she had “a feeling” that the spells used by Elphaba throughout the movie “weren\u2019t just some made up words.. they had purpose in them!”<\/p>\n Noting that she felt “uncomfortable in certain parts of the movie,” she decided to walk out of the theater mid-movie with her children.<\/p>\n However, Burnett also made it clear that she wasn’t knocking anyone who had enjoyed the movie.<\/p>\n “This is our personal conviction and I we feel strongly about things our girls watch and the spirits we allow in us. \u2014 on another note, this was a great learning moment for our kids,” she wrote. “Learning that when we are in situations that we don\u2019t feel are right then we need the courage to walk away.”<\/p>\n People in the comments had differing reactions to Burnett’s take on the movie. While some applauded her actions and decision to go with her “mom gut” to leave the theater, others questioned why the influencer didn’t research the film and its themes<\/a> before taking her children.<\/p>\n “Good for you, showing your daughters that it\u2019s okay to change your mind about something & make a different decision, even if it looks rude or strange to the world. I\u2019m glad you didn\u2019t just ignore that feeling. Love y\u2019all \ud83e\udef6\ud83c\udffc,” wrote one user.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, another pointed out how she took her own children to see the movie and had no problems. “I\u2019m the mom who took her 5 year old twin girls and didn\u2019t walk out of the movie,” the commenter said. “They enjoyed the music, the costumes, the pretty animals\u2026 and that\u2019s all it was for them. Everything else went right over their heads. Removing them from the theater would\u2019ve made it a bigger deal than it needed to be, because then I\u2019d have to explain why we left.
