{"id":310407,"date":"2025-11-27T14:39:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T14:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/310407\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T14:39:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T14:39:12","slug":"newcastle-says-fans-indiscriminately-assaulted-by-marseille-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/310407\/","title":{"rendered":"Newcastle says fans &#8220;indiscriminately assaulted&#8221; by Marseille police"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Associated Press<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-160ccf97=\"\">NEWCASTLE, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/soccer\/england-men-team\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">England<\/a> (AP) \u2014 Fans of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/soccer\/newcastle-united-team\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> were \u201cindiscriminately assaulted\u201d by French police following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/soccer\/champions-league\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Champions League<\/a> game against Marseille, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/soccer\/premier-league\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Premier League<\/a> club said Thursday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-160ccf97=\"\">Newcastle has formally raised concerns with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/soccer\/wcq-uefa\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UEFA<\/a>, French police and Marseille for what it described as \u201cunacceptable treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-160ccf97=\"\">Marseille won the game 2-1 at the Velodrome on Tuesday. Newcastle said its fans were made to wait at the stadium for up to an hour after the final whistle.
