There\u2019s been so much talk and speculation about the state of the Edmonton Oilers\u2019 goaltending<\/a>, and at long last, it actually feels as if an attempt at a resolution is truly on the horizon.<\/p>\n

First came the connection to the St. Louis Blues<\/a> and Stanley Cup champion netminder Jordan Binnington, and soon after came the report of their significant interest in Pittsburgh Penguins two-time All-Star goaltender Tristan Jarry.<\/p>\n

While both Binnington and Jarry are solid options with upside, TSN analyst Marc Denis believes the Oilers should hold out for Nashville Predators star Juuse Saros, considering him as their dream target in net.<\/p>\n

Denis said:<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cMy dream target, my dream goalie, is named Juuse Saros. If there is a world where Saros is not the starting goalie for the Predators, I\u2019m doing everything in my power to get Saros in an Oiler jersey,\u201d<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old Saros just began the first season of the eight-year, $61.92 million extension he signed with the Predators in 2024. Despite his resume, the three-time All-Star has had a rough start to 2025-26, going 6-9-3 with a 3.08 goals-against average, .889 save percentage, and zero shutouts through 18 starts. <\/p>\n

What to Make of Juuse Saros\u2019 Recent Struggles<\/p>\n

If this were two years ago, doing whatever it takes to bring in Saros wouldn\u2019t even draw a second thought from the Oilers. That being said, 2024-25 wasn\u2019t great, and that\u2019s carried over into this season, so how concerning is it?<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t gloss over the fact that it\u2019s been a struggle for almost two years now, but if anything, Edmonton should use that to their advantage to buy-low on a guy like Saros, who had long been viewed as a Vezina-caliber goalie. <\/p>\n

\"JuuseJuuse Saros Oilers trade<\/p>\n

The $7.74 million average annual salary is the main deterrent, though if Stan Bowman is able to shed some salary or get Nashville to retain some money in any deal, it will be no concern, especially as the cap continues to rise. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a move that would come with some risk, but so would Binnington or Jarry, so if they have the choice, Saros should be number one on the Oilers\u2019 list and their dream target. <\/p>\n
