If there is a world where Saros is not the starting goalie for the Predators, I’m doing everything in my power to get Saros in an Oiler jersey,”

The 30-year-old Saros just began the first season of the eight-year, $61.92 million extension he signed with the Predators in 2024. Despite his resume, the three-time All-Star has had a rough start to 2025-26, going 6-9-3 with a 3.08 goals-against average, .889 save percentage, and zero shutouts through 18 starts.

What to Make of Juuse Saros’ Recent Struggles

If this were two years ago, doing whatever it takes to bring in Saros wouldn’t even draw a second thought from the Oilers. That being said, 2024-25 wasn’t great, and that’s carried over into this season, so how concerning is it?

You can’t gloss over the fact that it’s been a struggle for almost two years now, but if anything, Edmonton should use that to their advantage to buy-low on a guy like Saros, who had long been viewed as a Vezina-caliber goalie.

Juuse Saros Oilers trade

The $7.74 million average annual salary is the main deterrent, though if Stan Bowman is able to shed some salary or get Nashville to retain some money in any deal, it will be no concern, especially as the cap continues to rise.

It’s a move that would come with some risk, but so would Binnington or Jarry, so if they have the choice, Saros should be number one on the Oilers’ list and their dream target.

Next: Latest NHL Trade Buzz: Predators, Oilers, Maple Leafs

There’s been so much talk and speculation about the state of the Edmonton Oilers’ goaltending, and at long…

[433
49,48,139142,448,82,2008
0":"post-311682","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nhl","8":"tag-ca","9":"tag-canada","10":"tag-juuse-saros","11":"tag-nhl","12":"tag-sports","13":"tag-top-story
["GET
