Swede-Argentinian Nieva, who served as the high-performance director of the Indian men\u2019s boxing from 2017-2022, is expected to begin his second stint by mid-Dec before the national championships beginning Dec 25, sources told TOI. His appointment was confirmed on Wednesday. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has proposed a three-year contract running until the Los Angeles Olympics 2028 with a monthly remuneration of $12,000 \u2013 exactly double the amount he earned during his previous stint., it\u2019s been learnt. Nieva has signed the contract with the Sports Authority of India (SAI). BFI president Ajay Singh said: \u201cSantiago\u2019s return comes at the perfect moment for Indian women\u2019s boxing. Singh commended the significant contribution made by D Chandralal, the current head coach of the women\u2019s team. He was subsequently associated as a coach with Boxing Australia before agreeing to rejoin Indian boxing. He said Chandralal will continue to remain an important part of the coaching team. While the Indian men\u2019s boxing has been struggling to give consistent results, the women boxers did well both at the World Championships and the recent World Boxing Cup (WBC) Finals.
