Qualifying for the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix ended with Oscar Piastri on pole, a Sprint and Grand Prix pole double for the Australian.<\/p>\n

After victory in the Sprint from pole, Oscar Piastri took the momentum into Grand Prix qualifying, his deficit to Lando Norris at the top of the standings down to 22 points. Verstappen, meanwhile, now 25 off P1, is approaching last chance saloon territory.<\/p>\n

2025 Qatar Grand Prix qualifying underway<\/p>\n

Norris was atop Q1 ahead of the final runs, but with the track ramping up, it was all to play for.<\/p>\n

Franco Colapinto, Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon, Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson needed a better lap to avoid Q1 elimination.<\/p>\n

Norris topped Q1 from Piastri. Out was Tsunoda, Ocon, Lewis Hamilton, Stroll and Colapinto. That makes it back-to-back Q1 eliminations for Hamilton.<\/p>\n

Piastri was sat P1 as the drivers prepared for a final Q2 push. Norris did not have a time after his original P1 effort was chalked off for Turn 10 track limits.<\/p>\n

Like Norris, Charles Leclerc, Gabriel Bortoleto, Alex Albon and Lawson also found themselves at risk in the elimination zone.<\/p>\n

Piastri kept hold of P1. Albon, Bortoleto, Oliver Bearman, Lawson and Hulkenberg were out.<\/p>\n

Onto the battle for pole in Qatar. It was advantage Norris as he clocked a 1:19.495 for provisional pole. Less than four hundredths separated the McLarens of Norris and Piastri.<\/p>\n

Norris abandoned his final lap, and Piastri pounced, claiming pole for the Qatar Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
