Toto<\/a> guitarist Steve Lukather<\/a>\u00a0is dispelling rumors surrounding\u00a0the band\u2019s classic-era lead singer, Bobby Kimball.<\/p>\n

Kimball was behind the mic for many of the band\u2019s biggest hits, including \u201cRosanna,\u201d \u201cHold the Line\u201d and \u201cAfrica.\u201d His initial run with the group lasted from 1977 to 1984, at which point drug addiction and infighting led to his dismissal. He later rejoined Toto for a second run, lasting from 1998 to 2008.<\/p>\n

Rumors about various feuds between Lukather and Kimball have regularly cropped up, especially when the singer was left out of Toto\u2019s reunion in 2010. Although Kimball has continued to be absent from the band, Lukather insists he and his former bandmate are on good terms.<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, I love Bobby, and we’ve been in touch,\u201d the guitarist noted during a recent\u00a0appearance on the Rockonteurs podcast<\/a>. \u201cI love him, and there’s a third party involved that sends love. There was all this bullshit in the early \u201890s about how we were mortal enemies and all this crap. That was just a lie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s one of the greatest singers I’ve ever been around,\u201d Lukather continued, praising Kimball\u2019s talent as \u201cone of a kind.\u201d \u201cWhen the voice was on, he was untouchable. And you have that much power, man. It takes a lot to make that power come alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

The guitarist also offered a brief insight into his former bandmate\u2019s health, noting that Kimball is \u201cstarting to lose touch with who he is now because of the dementia.\u201d \u201cIt’s very sad, and I have no right to talk about it,\u201d Lukather noted, before reaffirming, \u201cI love Bobby Kimball.\u201d<\/p>\n

Toto will embark on a 2026 North American tour<\/a> beginning Feb. 18 in Milwaukee.<\/p>\n
