Filmmaker Shawn Levy has revealed that his upcoming and currently shooting \u201cStar Wars: Starfighter\u201d feature has undergone a major change during production.<\/p>\n

Set roughly five years after the events of \u201cStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,\u201d Ryan Gosling leads the film as a character who must protect a young boy (Flynn Gray).<\/p>\n

It has been rumored the boy has Force powers and will potentially end up at a Jedi temple to ultimately train with Rey (Daisy Ridley) but that\u2019s only been speculation.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the On Film\u2026 With Kevin McCarthy<\/a> podcast recently, the \u201cA Night at the Museum\u201d and \u201cDeadpool vs. Wolverine\u201d director says the original plan for the film\u2019s third act has been tossed out because a better idea came along:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a whole different idea for something in the third act, and then things didn\u2019t align, and I was forced to come up with a new idea. And I\u2019m literally right now shooting that section of the movie. And every day, I\u2019m grateful that the way I was supposed to do it didn\u2019t work out, because the new idea that it forced me to explore is so much better than the original idea would have been.\u201d<\/p>\n

Levy says working on a \u201cStar Wars\u201d movie is a completely different experience to working on some of the other blockbusters he\u2019s been involved in:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s harder and a more unique pressure than any other movie you can make because you go into it understanding how deeply emotional the connection with audiences is. You could argue that\u2019s true of Marvel, that\u2019s true of other franchises, but nothing is as religious an allegiance as Star Wars. And so, the need, the pressure, self-inflicted mostly, to get it right \u2013 that\u2019s intense.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams also star in the film which Levy directs from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper.<\/p>\n
