Statistics Canada highlights professional and personal services (+1.1%), finance, real\u00a0estate\u00a0and company management (+1.7%), and health care and social\u00a0assistance\u00a0(+1.2%) as key drivers of the overall rise in employee compensation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{35}\" paraid=\"1904595243\">On a geographic basis,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcamag.com\/ca\/specialization\/payroll\/wage-growth-expected-amid-slowing-of-immigration-in-canada-report\/541829\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">compensation increased<\/a>\u00a0in every province and territory in the third quarter, according to Statistics Canada. New Brunswick recorded the strongest growth at 1.7%, while British Columbia saw the smallest increase at 0.2%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{39}\" paraid=\"647733564\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0289_639002100251216117.jpeg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"\/><\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{48}\" paraid=\"1648218958\">At the same time, net savings declined for Canadian households across all income groups in the second quarter of 2025, marking the first time this has occurred since inflation peaked in 2022, according to new data from Statistics Canada.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{52}\" paraid=\"1315892483\">This trend persisted even as inflation eased and the Bank of Canada\u2019s policy rate fell to 2.75%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{56}\" paraid=\"955270146\">The decreases in net saving were greater among the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcamag.com\/ca\/specialization\/financial-wellness\/canada-has-one-of-worlds-most-valuable-minimum-wages-report\/549867\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">lower income<\/a>\u00a0brackets compared to the higher ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{60}\" paraid=\"879348155\">\u201cNet saving worsened the least for higher income households despite weak wage gains, as their net investment earnings benefited from interest rate reductions,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www150.statcan.gc.ca\/n1\/daily-quotidien\/251128\/dq251128a-eng.htm\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Statistics Canada<\/a>. \u201cHigher income households tend to hold balances on variable rate credit products such as lines of credit, rather than fixed rate products such as credit cards.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nWhy compensation strategy matters for HR\u00a0&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{c02b63ef-aa2a-4c04-b92f-0cc96af50326}{64}\" paraid=\"1046541909\">Jay Williams, Compensation &amp;
