A new medical clinic is on its way in Qualicum Beach with an estimated opening date of September 2026, and so far four doctors have signed on to work there.<\/p>\n

The Mid Island Health Alliance says the Primrose Medical Clinic will open in September 2026, which will help strengthen access to primary healthcare in the area.<\/p>\n

When fully staffed, the clinic will have between six to 10 doctors with the capacity to attach at least 10,000 patients.<\/p>\n

Qualicum Beach currently is behind the provincial average for physicians, specialists and supplementary practitioners.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Health Services Authority community health profile for the town<\/a> says there are 88 physicians per 100,000 residents in Qualicum Beach, compared to the provincial average of 112.<\/p>\n

The number of specialists, however, is far behind, with only nine per 100,000 residents compared to 94 for the B.C. average.<\/p>\n

There are 123 supplementary practitioners per 100,000 residents compared to the average of 133.<\/p>\n

The Mid Island Health Alliance says part of the goal of the Primrose Medical Centre is to organize specialty clinics to address the unmet needs in the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis medical centre represents a transformative leap forward for our community,\u201d said Susanne Cunningham, chair of the Mid Island Health Alliance. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Primrose Medical Centre is not simply a building\u2014it is the future backbone of healthcare delivery in Qualicum Beach. It will bring stability for physicians, attach thousands of patients, and strengthen care for seniors, families, and rural residents for decades to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Kelly Hadfield has been serving as a physician consultant and recruitment lead, and will serve as the medical director in addition to her roles at the Qualicum Beach Medical Clinic and Qualicum First Nation Medical Walk-In Clinic.<\/p>\n

MIHA continues to seek donations<\/a> to help bring the clinic to life, including construction, equipment and start-up costs.<\/p>\n
