{"id":319732,"date":"2025-12-02T03:43:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T03:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/319732\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T03:43:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T03:43:12","slug":"meghan-mccain-reveals-she-cried-after-getting-schooled-on-bill-mahers-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/319732\/","title":{"rendered":"Meghan McCain Reveals She Cried After Getting \u2018Schooled\u2019 on Bill Maher\u2019s Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Meghan McCain still cringes when she recalls the viral \u201cschooling\u201d she received during a 2009 episode of Real Time with Bill Maher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">McCain recalled the moment in conversation with conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings on her podcast <a onclick=\"_sendArticleBodyInlineLinkClickAnalytics(&#039;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/LXomuD0HWBI?si=YmFCstyEjWr8Ipqt&amp;t=438&#039;)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/LXomuD0HWBI?si=YmFCstyEjWr8Ipqt&amp;t=438\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Citizen McCain<\/a> on Monday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The \u201cone and only time I went on Bill Maher\u2014I\u2019ll never do it again. Literally, I was so traumatized from it,\u201d McCain said. \u201cIt went mega viral back when things could actually go viral because there were so few outlets on the internet, and Paul Begala is schooling the living s&#8211;t out of me,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Meghan McCain.\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/XZ24OTMGCVDOJP7ACAI6V4D6JE.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/>Meghan McCain became a co-host of &#8220;The View&#8221; in 2017 before quitting the show in 2021. Roy Rochlin\/Getty Images <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI cried afterward. It was a mess, like a horrible\u2026 and I\u2019m still kind of scared of Paul Begala. Like, I still\u2014if I were in a room with him, I would be like, very\u2026\u201d She trailed off, indicating she\u2019d feel standoffish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">McCain appeared on Maher\u2019s show in 2009, at a time when, as she explained to Jennings Monday, \u201cI had been put on TV way too early. As a nepo baby, people like putting famous kids on TV.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Begala, a CNN political contributor and former adviser to President Bill Clinton, was a guest on Real Time during McCain\u2019s appearance. Twenty-five-year-old McCain told Maher\u2019s panel at the time, \u201cThe Obama administration really has to stop completely blaming everything on its predecessor,\u201d prompting Maher to ask the follow-up, \u201cYou think that\u2019s what Obama\u2019s doing?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">When McCain answered, \u201cto a degree,\u201d Begala countered, \u201cnot to enough of a degree, I\u2019m sorry\u2014not nearly enough. Ronald Reagan blamed Carter every day for eight years.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">McCain blamed her lack of knowledge on her age. \u201cI wasn\u2019t born yet, so I don\u2019t know,\u201d she replied. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Begala retorted, \u201cWell, I wasn\u2019t born during the French Revolution, but I know about it,\u201d to rousing applause from the audience. HBO <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Flustered, McCain added, \u201cYou clearly know everything, and I\u2019m just the blonde here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The podcast host said Monday that despite her embarrassment over the moment, \u201cIt did teach me lessons.
