THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Justin Tang (Justin Tang) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Speaking to reporters outside Rideau Hall on Monday, Miller said \u201cit feels great\u201d to be back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI am a guy that likes to be busy, and I was a little restless, but it\u2019s nice to get the opportunity to keep on doing some amazing work and contributing to Canada,\u201d Miller said. \u201cFor the reasons that I got into politics, because I love my country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement Jo\u00ebl Lightbound, meanwhile, will now take on a larger portfolio, assuming the role as Quebec lieutenant, while Environment and Climate Change Minister Julie Dabrusin will inherit the nature file.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s an important role in federal politics and in Quebec politics, and I look forward to getting to it with the advice of Steven Guilbeault, who has been an outstanding Quebec lieutenant and minister for years,\u201d Lightbound told reporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Prior to the official swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall, government sources told CTV News the shuffle would be small and aimed at covering off the various portfolios previously held by Guilbeault.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DHR2ZW3TCREPBJNA57SPUVMRUM.JPG\"  width=\"800\" height=\"515\"\/>Steven Guilbeault resigns from cabinet Liberal MP Steven Guilbeault rises during Question Period on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Adrian Wyld <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">On Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/politics\/article\/guilbeault-resigns-from-cabinet-over-carneys-energy-deal-with-alberta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guilbeault resigned<\/a> as Minister of Canadian identity and culture and Quebec lieutenant, just hours after the federal government announced its energy deal with Alberta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In his resignation letter, Guilbeault said while he understands the prime minster\u2019s efforts in the face of \u201cprofound disruption,\u201d he remains \u201cone of those for whom environmental issues must remain front and centre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThat is why I strongly oppose the memorandum of understanding between the federal government and the government of Alberta,\u201d Guilbeault said, noting he made the decision \u201cwith great sadness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Asked if he\u2019s worried about caucus unity following Guilbeault\u2019s resignation, Miller said \u201cfrank and honest conversations\u201d can be had with the prime minister.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cMark Carney helped us win an election that I think a lot of pollsters had us losing.
