Following our previous visit to\u00a0Selldorf Architects<\/a>, we are moving our\u00a0Meet Your Next Employer series<\/a>\u00a0to Los Angeles this week to explore the work of\u00a0Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney (EYRC) Architects<\/a>.<\/p>\n

From their studio in Culver City, the firm has grown since its 1979 launch to amass a portfolio including residential, commercial, cultural, civic, and educational projects. Earlier this year, EYRC partner Steven Ehrlich was awarded a California Award<\/a> by AIA California, while the firm\u2019s work was among those included<\/a> in the U.S. Pavilion for the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.<\/p>\n

Over on Archinect Jobs, the firm is\u00a0currently hiring<\/a>\u00a0for several roles to join their Los Angeles and San Francisco teams. A 7,000-square-foot home situated on a wooded hilltop, the Spring Road Residence is composed of simple volumes placed to optimize sightlines, maintain privacy, and establish distinct program zones. Terracotta rainscreen cladding, rheinzink fascias, and minimal-profile aluminum openings establish a modern yet site-responsive material palette. The house includes a cantilevered master suite, open kitchen and living areas, guest rooms oriented toward an infinity lap pool, a basement theater, and a separate structure containing a gym, spa, office, and outdoor deck.<\/p>\n

Spectral Bridge House was designed as a combined living environment and immersive art installation in collaboration with artist Johannes Girardoni. Located on a narrow urban lot near a beach, the scheme consists of three two-story volumes scaled to the surrounding neighborhood. The upper levels use smooth white stucco, while the lower levels employ charred shou sugi ban cladding. Each block opens to a network of decks, gardens, and a pool court, with a roof deck above the central structure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A family home designed around a centralized indoor-outdoor living space, the 19th Street Residence features an L-shaped living and dining area organized around the kitchen, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors on four sides to create continuity with the yard. The scheme consists of three minimalist volumes: a white stucco box, a grey box, and a larger two-story larch-clad form. The entry sequence includes a gravel garden with low plantings and a cercis tree, while a small open-air courtyard sits at the stair landing. The upper level contains two ensuite bedrooms and a primary suite with a wood soaking tub and deck.<\/p>\n

Zeidler Residence is a coastal home designed for a retired couple, composed of two cube-like structures separated by a courtyard on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Exterior materials include exposed concrete block, troweled stucco, Rheinzinc cladding, and cast-glass screens that modulate light. The main house contains an open-plan ground floor with ocean views, a double-height living area, and a basement wine cellar. Upper levels include a primary suite, balcony, and roof deck with an outdoor kitchen.\u00a0<\/p>\n
