\n\tZag<\/a>, the studio behind the blockbuster franchise \u201cMiraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir,\u201d<\/a> is teaming with former F1 driver Carmen Jord\u00e1 to turn on the girl power with \u201cCarmen,\u201d a first animated feature film set in the world of women\u2019s motorsports.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMiraculous<\/a>\u201d co-creator and producer Jeremy Zag<\/a> is developing the feature and a franchise (ranging from scripted, live experiences and consumer products) inspired by Jord\u00e1. The project will look to appeal to Gen Z audiences with themes of empowerment, cinematic storytelling and full-on action. <\/p>\n

\n\tZag has also enlisted high profile producing partners on \u201cCarmen,\u201d including Michael Gracey, the filmmaker of \u201cThe Greatest Showman\u201d and \u201cBetter Man;\u201d and Tyler Thompson, who\u2019s produced \u201cBlack Swan\u201d and \u201cRush;\u201d alongside former HBO Max and Netflix executive Andrea Puig who is joining as executive producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film will follow Carmen as she navigate a brutal racing universe and is forced to overcome doubt, pressure and heartbreak. \u201cCarmen must push beyond her limits to reclaim her dream and discover who she truly is,\u201d reads the synopsis.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAt Zag, we\u2019ve always believed in creating heroes who inspire kids to believe in themselves,\u201d said Zag, whose \u201cMiraculous\u201d franchise portrayed the first female-powered superhero set in Paris.\u00a0 \u201cWhen I met Carmen, her journey and perseverance impressed and inspired me. I\u2019m excited to let her personal story guide us as we imagine a new hero for tomorrow,\u201d continued Zag, who just celebrated the 10-year anniversary of \u201cMiraculous\u201d <\/a>with Mediawan\u2019s chairman and co-founder\u00a0Pierre-Antoine Capton<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tJord\u00e1, meanwhile, said, \u201cRacing has shaped my life. Partnering with Zag means turning my passion into a story that can inspire millions of young girls around the world. I want them to know they can dream big, fight hard, and take their place on the track \u2014 just like I did.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tA former development driver of Lotus and Renault in Formula 1, Jord\u00e1 became the 11th woman in history to be included in a driver line-up for a prestigious F1 team. She\u2019s also an advocate for female race car
drivers and inclusion throughout motorsports.<\/p>\n

\n\tGracey said, \u201cCarmen\u2019s journey boasts a story of resilience and unwavering self-belief, even in the face of tempting limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe filmmaker praised Jord\u00e1 for \u201cher fearlessness and ambition,\u201d which \u201care the qualities of true heroes.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to let them guide our narrative \u2013 and hopefully inspire the generation discovering her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThompson said he was \u201cexcited to join the incredible team to bring Carmen\u2019s story to life for so
many audiences around the world. What she\u2019s done in her sport is truly remarkable.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tPuig said \u201cJeremy\u2019s artistic sensitivity and instinct for talent make him a true pioneer in storytelling and musical creation, building worlds with lasting emotional impact.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe executive said Zag has captured \u201cCarmen\u2019s fight and spirit in motorsport<\/a> through characters only he can bring to life.\u201d \u201cBeing able to share a female story driven by grit, speed, and ambition with the world is a dream come true,\u201d Puig added. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe world of women in motorsports has been trending in recent years. Reese Witherspoon<\/a>\u2019s production company, Hello Sunshine, for instance, produced a docuseries about female drivers of\u00a0Formula 1<\/a>\u2019s F1 Academy which found a home at Netflix<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tZag is also currently developing a second \u201cMiraculous<\/a>\u201d movie with producer\u00a0John Cohen<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cDespicable Me<\/a>,\u201d \u201cThe Angry Birds Movie\u201d) and writer\u00a0Matt Roller<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cRick And Morty,\u201d \u201cCommunity\u201d). The first opus \u201cMiraculous Ladybug & Cat Noir\u201d was a global hit in 2023. While it streamed on Netflix in a number of territories such as the U.S., Canada and Latin America, the film thrived at the box office across most of Europe where it opened theatrically, grossing over $40 million.<\/p>\n
