{"id":320883,"date":"2025-12-02T16:46:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T16:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/320883\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T16:46:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T16:46:11","slug":"full-house-star-dave-coulier-diagnosed-with-tongue-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/320883\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Full House&#8217; Star Dave Coulier Diagnosed With Tongue Cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/full-house\/\" id=\"auto-tag_full-house\" data-tag=\"full-house\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Full House<\/a>\u201d star <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/dave-coulier\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dave-coulier\" data-tag=\"dave-coulier\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Coulier<\/a> appeared <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/dave-coulier-tongue-cancer-rcna245598?utm_campaign=trueAnthem_manual&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\">on NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d<\/a> and revealed he has been diagnosed with tongue cancer, nearly seven months after beating Stage 3 non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He assured fans his prognosis is far better than his last bout with cancer and has \u201ca 90% curability rate.\u201d Coulier is set to undergo 35 rounds of radiation and will be done with the treatment on Dec. 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cTotally unrelated to the previous cancer that I had,\u201d Coulier said. \u201cSo in October of this year, I went in for a PET scan, just a routine check-up and something flared on the PET scan. It turned out that I have P16 squamous carcinoma at the base of my tongue. So I said to the doctors, I said, \u2018Well, did this happen because of the lymphoma?\u2019 And they said, \u2018Totally unrelated.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cPrognosis is very good for P16 squamous carcinoma,\u201d Coulier added. \u201cSo it has a 90% curability rate. But the thing that has really saved my life, Craig, is that early detection saved my life, not just the first time but the second time as well. So I hope you\u2019re getting your check-ups. I hope you get your colonoscopies and breast exams and prostate exams, they will save your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPer the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/oral-cavity-and-oropharyngeal-cancer\/treating\/oropharyngeal-options-by-stage.html\">American Cancer Society<\/a>. P16 is a protein that\u2019s a marker for human papillomavirus (HPV). Coulier\u2019s doctors told him his tongue cancer \u201ccould stem from having an HPV virus up to 30 years ago. A lot of people carry the HPV virus, but they said mine activated and turned into a carcinoma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCoulier <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/dave-coulier-cancer-free-full-house-1236353361\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced in November 2024<\/a> that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. He quickly began chemotherapy after discovering the cancer was Stage 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cYou hear chemo, and it scares the daylights out of you,\u201d the actor said at the time. \u201cThe first round was pretty intense because you don\u2019t know what to expect. You don\u2019t know how you\u2019re going to feel. Is this going to hit me immediately? Is it going to be devastating? Am I going to walk out of here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCoulier then announced in March 2025 that he was cancer free. He spoke to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/parade.com\/celebrities\/dave-coulier-cancer-interview-exclusive\">Parade magazine<\/a> about his cancer battle, explaining he finished grueling rounds of chemotherapy in February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThe symptoms were getting worse and worse with each treatment,\u201d he explained. \u201cSo neuropathy, which I hadn\u2019t experienced before, started to increase. Nausea started to increase. Dizziness started to increase. They call it chemo brain, where you\u2019re a bit foggy \u2014 that started to increase. My days of being able to get up and walk around and be active started to decrease.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCoulier\u2019s wife, Melissa, told the magazine the couple started to have \u201cwhat if\u201d conversations amid his struggles with treatment, explaining: \u201cAfter [the fifth round of] chemo, he was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know if I could do this again.\u2019 He was like, \u2018I\u2019m prepared either way. If I die, I die. And if I can stay here, great. I want to.\u2019 Those conversations were obviously so tough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor his current tongue cancer diagnosis, Coulier told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/health\/news\/dave-coulier-tongue-cancer-rcna245598?utm_campaign=trueAnthem_manual&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cToday\u201d viewers <\/a>that \u201cthe doctor said the prognosis is good, but we\u2019re going to start radiation immediately\u2026 It\u2019s a whole different animal than chemo.
