12\/02\/2025December 2, 2025Cologne to be central in Rhine-Ruhr region’s Olympic bid \u2014 NRW state premier<\/p>\n
The western city of Cologne,<\/a> Germany’s third-largest in terms of population,\u00a0will play the leading role in\u00a0the Rhine-Ruhr region’s bid to host the Olympics<\/a> in\u00a02036, 2040 or 2044, North Rhine-Westphalia<\/a> (NRW) state premier Hendrik W\u00fcst said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n W\u00fcst made his remarks after meeting\u00a0with representatives of the municipalities involved in the bid in D\u00fcsseldorf, the state capital.<\/p>\n “We are offering Germany and the world the most compact, sustainable and spectacular Olympic Games. The strongest bid for the Olympic Games comes from us,” he said.<\/p>\n “At the moment, we assume that we will be able to offer around 14 million tickets.
