{"id":322445,"date":"2025-12-03T09:53:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T09:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/322445\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T09:53:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T09:53:06","slug":"a-lot-of-bad-things-happened-the-most-shocking-moments-from-the-diddy-docuseries-sean-diddy-combs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/322445\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018A lot of bad things happened\u2019: the most shocking moments from the Diddy docuseries | Sean \u2018Diddy\u2018 Combs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The controversial Netflix docuseries <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/dec\/02\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-review-documentary-netflix\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Combs: The Reckoning<\/a> had already been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/dec\/01\/sean-diddy-combs-netflix-series-50-cent\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">called<\/a> a \u201cshameful hitpiece\u201d by the disgraced mogul\u2019s lawyers after a trailer was released on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Now after all four episodes have been dropped on Netflix, it\u2019s been called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/dec\/02\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-review-documentary-netflix\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">grimly necessary<\/a>\u201d and a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/arts-entertainment\/tv\/reviews\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-netflix-documentary-review-b2876547.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">relentless\u201d portrait of \u201ca terrifying individual<\/a>\u201d by critics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The series, produced by Combs\u2019s longtime rival Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson, chronicles his rise to fame and details some of the allegations made against him over the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">It features a wide range of voices, including former members of his inner circle, several former employees and associates, childhood friends, artists who were signed to his label Bad Boy Records, two jurors from his federal trial, and several people who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/tv-and-radio\/2025\/dec\/02\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-review-documentary-netflix\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">have filed civil lawsuits<\/a> against Combs, some accusing him of sexual assault \u2013 allegations that Combs has denied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The documentary comes several months after the Bad Boy Records founder was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/jul\/02\/diddy-trial-verdict-sean-combs\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">found guilty<\/a> on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, but not guilty of the more serious sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges against him. In October, Combs, who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/mar\/14\/sean-diddy-combs-pleads-not-guilty-new-indictment\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pleaded not guilty to all of the charges<\/a>, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/oct\/03\/sean-diddy-combs-trial-sentence\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sentenced to 50 months in prison<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Combs is currently serving his sentence at Fort Dix prison complex in New Jersey, and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/01\/entertainment\/sean-diddy-combs-netflix-50-cent-documentary\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">appealing<\/a> both his conviction and his sentence. He is still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/04\/arts\/music\/sean-combs-diddy-civil-lawsuits.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">facing dozens<\/a> of civil lawsuits, accusing him of sexual abuse. He has denied all of the allegations against him in the lawsuits.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">After the series premiered on Tuesday, Juda Engelmayer, a spokesperson for Combs, said in a statement that \u201cwe\u2019re not going to comment on individual claims being repeated in the documentary,\u201d adding: \u201cMany of the people featured have longstanding personal grievances, financial motives, or credibility issues that have been documented for years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cSeveral of these stories have already been addressed in court filings, and others were never raised in any legal forum because they\u2019re simply not true,\u201d he added. \u201cThe project was built around a one-sided narrative led by a publicly admitted adversary, and it repeats allegations without context, evidence, or verification.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cSean Combs will continue to address legitimate matters through the legal process, not through a biased <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/netflix\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a> production,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We saw both sides of it and came to our conclusions\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Two jurors from Combs\u2019s federal trial are interviewed in the series, and speak out for the first time since the 12-person jury delivered a split verdict earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWhen we were in the deliberation room and we\u2019ve come to an agreement and we\u2019re only saying that he\u2019s guilty for these two counts, my words exactly were: \u2018Oh s-h-i-t,\u2019\u201d one of the jurors, a woman identified as Juror 160 said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">During the two-month trial this summer, prosecutors accused Combs of sex-trafficking women by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/jun\/06\/sean-diddy-combs-sex-trafficking-trial-freak-offs\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coercing them<\/a> into participating in drug-fueled sex marathons with male escorts. Central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/may\/16\/cassie-ventura-sean-diddy-combs-trial\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to their case<\/a> were allegations from Combs\u2019s former girlfriend, singer Casandra \u201cCassie\u201d Ventura, who testified that over their decade-long relationship, Combs physically abused, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/may\/14\/cassie-ventura-sean-diddy-combs-trial\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coerced and blackmailed<\/a> her into taking part in these sexual encounters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Combs\u2019s lawyers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/may\/12\/p-diddy-sex-trafficking-trial-jury-selection\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acknowledged past instances<\/a> of domestic violence but denied that any coercion or sex trafficking occurred, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/may\/05\/sean-diddy-combs-sex-trafficking-trial-jury-selection\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">insisting that all the sexual activity<\/a> was consensual.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/jul\/02\/diddy-trial-jury-deliberations\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three days of deliberation<\/a>, the jury \u2013 made up of eight men and four women \u2013reached a verdict and convicted Combs on the two prostitution-related counts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the series, Juror 160, who said that she belonged to \u201cthat generation who basically grew up listening\u201d to Combs\u2019s music but was not a \u201cpersonal fan of his\u201d, was asked whether she believed that Combs was a \u201cviolent person\u201d. She said that based on the 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/article\/2024\/may\/17\/video-p-diddy-assault-cassie-ventura\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hotel surveillance video<\/a> of Combs beating Ventura that was shown to the jury in court, \u201che can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Juror 160. Photograph: Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cIt\u2019s unforgivable, honestly, you can\u2019t beat that small girl like that the way he did,\u201d Juror 160 said. But, she added: \u201cYou can say he was a terrible person, but domestic violence wasn\u2019t one of the charges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The other juror interviewed, a man identified as Juror 75 who said he had \u201czero knowledge\u201d of Combs before the trial, said that during the trial, he felt \u201cconfused\u201d by Ventura and Combs\u2019s relationship.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Asked whether he saw any evidence of \u201cforce, fraud or coercion between Cassie and Sean\u201d, the juror responded: \u201cThat was a very, very interesting relationship. This is two people in love, they are overly in love. You cannot explain. She wanted to be with him. He took her for granted. He never thought that she would leave him. So it\u2019s like both hands clapping together. You cannot clap with one hand. Both hands, then you get the noise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Juror 75 pointed to the affectionate text messages between Ventura and Combs after the hotel assault that were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/jul\/02\/sean-diddy-combs-trial-ends\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">presented by the defense<\/a> during trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThe very next day, the following day, you see how they\u2019re getting back together and exchanging text messages and like nothing ever happened,\u201d he said. \u201cSo now we are confused \u2026 What\u2019s going on here? He\u2019s beating her, and the next minute they\u2019re going on dinners and trips. It\u2019s like going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThat\u2019s my answer,\u201d the juror said. \u201cI mean, if you don\u2019t like something, you completely get out. You cannot have it both ways. Have the luxury and then you complain about it, I don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Asked if he believed that justice had been served in this case Juror 75, said, \u201c100%,\u201d adding: \u201cWe saw both sides of it and we came with our conclusions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They were starstruck\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">One of Combs\u2019s former employees featured in the docuseries is Capricorn Clark, who was his former assistant and Bad Boy Entertainment executive. Clark, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/may\/27\/sean-diddy-combs-trial\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">testified against him at trial<\/a> and told jurors that Combs once kidnapped her and threatened her life, said in the documentary that she felt that the jury \u201cdidn\u2019t believe anything\u201d she was saying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI\u2019m watching them as they relate to him, I think they all kinda had a like for Puff, whenever they looked over at Puff it was like buddy-buddy,\u201d she said. \u201cThey were starstruck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t even know if I was raped\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the third episode, singer Aubrey O\u2019Day, a former member of Combs\u2019s girl band Danity Kane, alleged that Combs sent her sexually explicit emails during the filming of MTV\u2019s Making the Band.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the documentary, O\u2019Day read an explicit email she said Combs sent her, and also alleged that he emailed her photos of his penis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI dont wanna just fuck you. I wanna turn you out,\u201d the alleged email read in part. \u201cI can see you being with some motherfucker that you tell what to do. Photograph: Courtesy of Netflix<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the interview, O\u2019Day says: \u201cThis is your boss at your work sending you that email.\u201d She continued: \u201cWhat happens in real life to anyone else? Your boss gets fired. Six months later, I was fired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI absolutely felt that I was fired for not participating sexually,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In the series, O\u2019Day also discussed an affidavit from a civil case in which a woman alleged that in 2005 she accidentally walked into a room where she alleged that she saw O\u2019Day, who she said looked \u201cvery inebriated\u201d and naked from the waist down, being sexually assaulted by Combs and another man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">O\u2019Day said that she had no \u201crecollection of this\u201d..<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cDoes this mean I was raped? Is that what this means? I don\u2019t even know if I was raped,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t want to know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Sometimes violent things happen to you\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The documentary also features allegations from former Bad Boy Records associates, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-diddy-documentary-kirk-burrowes-tupac\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kirk Burrowes<\/a>, who co-founded Bad Boy Entertainment with Combs, that Combs was involved in the killing of rapper Tupac Shakur, among other allegations. Combs has always denied any involvement in Shakur\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cSean was insanely jealous of Biggie and \u2019Pac\u2019s friendship,\u201d Burrowes said. \u201cFor Sean, being a marketer \u2013 you\u2019re a manipulator. And there\u2019s envy for people who have success [and] fame, with no manipulation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He added: \u201cWith Sean, sometimes you\u2019re humiliated. Sometimes you\u2019re made an example of. Sometimes violent things happen to you. Through the years, a lot of bad things happened to good friends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI think that Sean now in my mature mind had a lot to do with the death of Tupac,\u201d Burrowes said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Dirtiest of dirty business\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The docuseries also includes previously unseen footage of Combs filmed in the six days before Combs was arrested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2024\/sep\/17\/sean-diddy-combs-arrest-new-york-grand-jury-indictment-ntwnfb\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">September 2024<\/a>, as the federal investigation was closing in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">According to the documentary, Combs had a videographer documenting him during this time, and the film-makers say that they obtained the footage after Combs\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The documentary opens with some of that footage, showing Combs in a New York hotel room speaking with his lawyer on the phone, discussing the public perception against him on social media, just six days before his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2024\/sep\/17\/sean-diddy-combs-arrest-new-york-grand-jury-indictment-ntwnfb\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arrest<\/a> and as the federal investigation was closing in.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWe have to find somebody that will work with us, that has dealt in the dirtiest of dirty business of media and propaganda,\u201d says Combs. \u201cWe\u2019re losing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Days later, Combs was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2024\/sep\/17\/sean-diddy-combs-arrest-new-york-grand-jury-indictment-ntwnfb\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arrested<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2024\/sep\/17\/sean-diddy-combs-indictment-charges\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">charged with<\/a> sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The director of the docuseries, Alexandria Stapleton, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-diddy-documentary-release-date-news\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> that the footage \u201ccame to us\u201d and that they \u201cobtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A courtroom sketch of Combs. Photograph: Jane Rosenberg\/Reuters<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cOne thing about Sean Combs is that he\u2019s always filming himself, and it\u2019s been an obsession throughout the decades,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-diddy-documentary-release-date-news\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>. \u201cWe also reached out to Sean Combs\u2019s legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Stapleton has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflix.com\/tudum\/articles\/sean-combs-the-reckoning-diddy-documentary-release-date-news\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> that she hopes the documentary \u201cis a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On Monday, the eve of the documentary release, CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/01\/entertainment\/sean-diddy-combs-netflix-50-cent-documentary\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> that Combs\u2019s lawyers sent Netflix a cease-and-desist letter, demanding it be withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cNetflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release,\u201d Engelmayer, Combs\u2019s spokesperson said on Monday. \u201cAs Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cNetflix is plainly desperate to sensationalize every minute of Mr Combs\u2019s life, without regard for truth, in order to capitalize on a never-ending media frenzy,\u201d Engelmayer said. \u201cIf Netflix cared about truth or about Mr Combs\u2019s legal rights, it would not be ripping private footage out of context \u2013 including conversations with his lawyers that were never intended for public viewing. No rights in that material were ever transferred to Netflix or any third party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He also told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/12\/01\/arts\/music\/sean-combs-diddy-50-cent-documentary.html\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a> that Combs had been working on his own documentary before his arrest, and had been in discussions with Netflix.
