{"id":323080,"date":"2025-12-03T17:10:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/323080\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T17:10:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T17:10:07","slug":"serena-williams-on-if-shes-returning-to-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/323080\/","title":{"rendered":"Serena Williams On If She\u2019s Returning to Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/serena_williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Serena Williams<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t want you to call it a comeback.<\/p>\n<p>After reports that the 44-year-old registered with the International Tennis Integrity Agency&#8217;s (ITIA) testing pool, three years after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1341327\/serena-williams-announces-retirement-from-tennis-after-u-s-open\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">officially retiring from the sport<\/a>, Serena\u00a0addressed whether it meant she was officially returning to the sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOmg yall,\u201d Serena wrote on a Dec. 2 post on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/serenawilliams\/status\/1995945691609551099?s=46&amp;t=w-VM00pI4GZ8LpSpTCAHXA\" rel=\"nofollow\">X<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m NOT coming back. This wildfire is crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Serena\u2014who shares daughters Olympia, 8, and Adira, 2, with husband Alexis Ohanian\u2014didn\u2019t clarify why she registered with the organization.<\/p>\n<p>For the ITIA\u2019s part, spokesperson Adrian Bassett\u00a0told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6855313\/2025\/12\/02\/serena-williams-tennis-testing-pool-reentry-competition-return\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noopener noreferrer nofollow\">The Athletic<\/a>, &#8220;She has notified us that she wants to be reinstated into the testing pool. I do not know if this means she is coming back, or just giving herself the option. All I can say is she\u2019s back in the pool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, after being reinstated for six months, Serena would be eligible to return to the court after subjecting to random drug tests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Serena Williams\u00a0doesn\u2019t want you to call it a comeback.
