{"id":323163,"date":"2025-12-03T18:08:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T18:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/323163\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T18:08:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T18:08:08","slug":"newest-blue-jays-player-has-a-star-athlete-relative-and-he-wants-to-come-to-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/323163\/","title":{"rendered":"Newest Blue Jays player has a star athlete relative and he wants to come to Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Toronto Blue Jays have added a bit of star power this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>And no, we&#8217;re not just talking about their free agent signings, though one of them did help recruit a new famous fan to the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, it was reported that the Blue Jays <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogto.com\/sports_play\/2025\/12\/toronto-blue-jays-sign-korean-league-mvp-30-million-contract\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed free agent pitcher Cody Ponce,<\/a> fresh off a season winning the KBO&#8217;s MVP as the best player in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Ponce returns to the MLB for the first time since 2021 as what seems like a more well-polished pitcher, and could play a big part in Toronto&#8217;s plans next year.<\/p>\n<p>But interestingly, he also comes with a famous brother-in-law, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/robwong34\/status\/1996019292257878398?s=46\" rel=\"nofollow\">as pointed out by Postmedia&#8217;s Rob Wong<\/a>: San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle.<\/p>\n<p>A six-time Pro Bowl player and a two-time first-team All-Pro, Kittle has been one of the most productive tight ends in league history.<\/p>\n<p>Originally a fifth-round pick out of Iowa in 2017, Kittle has made his mark on the football world as one of the NFL&#8217;s best pass-catching tight ends, having picked up 1,000 yards or more in four different seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Kittle has twice played in the Super Bowl with the 49ers, but lost both times to perhaps the only active tight end currently more well-known than him: Kansas City Chiefs star (and Taylor Swift&#8217;s fianc\u00e9) Travis Kelce.<\/p>\n<p>While we don&#8217;t know how Ponce will turn out in Toronto, we can bet that Kittle will be cheering him on.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I will be at a game or several!<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2014 George Kittle (@gkittle46) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gkittle46\/status\/1996016576852886009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">December 3, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will be at a game or several!&#8221; Kittle replied to a Canadian 49ers fan inviting him to Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>After spring training wraps up in Florida, the Blue Jays head back to Toronto for a March 27 home opener against the Athletics.\u00a0 So if you&#8217;re in attendance at the Rogers Centre at all next season, you just might need to keep an extra set of eyes out for Kittle.<\/p>\n<p>            <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Toronto Blue Jays have added a bit of star power this offseason.
