Oilers Notebook: Kraken\u2019s Mason Marchment out for Thursday rematch, Nugent-Hopkins returns to top line<\/p>\n
Public enemy No. 1 from last Saturday\u2019s game<\/a> between the Edmonton Oilers and Seattle Kraken won\u2019t be in the lineup for the rematch.Kraken forward Mason Marchment found himself under the skin of the Oilers after laying a late, blindside hit<\/a> on Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse late in the first period.Marchment was challenged by Adam Henrique right after the hit, with the Kraken winger declining not just then, but late in the third period of the Oilers\u2019 4-0 win by Darnell Nurse. Kraken head coach Lane Lambert didn\u2019t designate what ailed Marchment, but he missed a Monday practice due to what was described as \u201cmaintenance<\/a>.\u201dThere was intrigue heading into Thursday\u2019s game in which the Kraken will travel to Edmonton, with wonder about if Marchment would have to answer the bell for his hit. Not known for his fighting, he has a dance card<\/a> with at least a scrap or two in each of his pro seasons.<\/p>\n The Oilers and Kraken will play once more this season on March 31st, 2026.<\/p>\n Marchment will not make the trip to Edmonton, per Lane Lambert. <\/p>\n He was public enemy No. 1 last game, so this takes some of that added intrigue out of tomorrow\u2019s matchup. #SeaKraken<\/a><\/p>\n Still no Mason Marchment today. <\/p>\n Jared McCann and Brandon Montour are here. <\/p>\n #SeaKraken forward lines. <\/p>\n McCann \/ Beniers \/ Eberle In Edmonton, meanwhile, the Oilers shuffled up their lines<\/a> at Wednesday\u2019s practice with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins returning to the top line alongside Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman. The trio have been one of the best lines in the NHL in recent years, as across a three season span between 2022-23 and 2024-25, they\u2019ve outscored the opposition 65-42, while controlling 63.1 percent of the expected goal share in 993 five-on-five minutes.<\/p>\n As a result, the rest of the Oilers forward group will have a different look. Leon Draisaitl centred Vasily Podkolzin and Matt Savoie, a trio that had a brief look last season when Savoie was called up.<\/p>\n Adam Henrique centred the third line with Mattias Janmark and Andrew Mangiapane, while Curtis Lazar centred the fourth line with Connor Clattenburg and Trent Frederic.<\/p>\n The defensive pairings remained the same, with Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard on the top pair, Darnell Nurse and Alec Regula on the second, and Brett Kulak and Ty Emberson on the third.<\/p>\n The @EdmontonOilers<\/a> practice today:<\/p>\n RNH-McDavid-Hyman Ekholm-Bouchard Skinner Puck drop between the Oilers and Kraken is set for 7 pm Thursday night, in Edmonton\u2019s second game of their five-game homestand.
