Bayern Munich have advanced to the quarterfinal of the DFB-Pokal. It has been four years since this last happened, and for what has objectively been a wildly short period of time, the team has undergone such major restructuring and upheavals in the same. Two managers sacked, several major players in and out, and a club though fundamentally the same, has turned out so wildly different.<\/p>\n
A pressing concern with modern Bayern has been the stagnancy at the academy \u2014 the youth were on their own solid players, but none good enough to make the transition to the senior team. The rise of Aleksander Pavlovic, from the academy to the first team meant the bosses could breathe a sigh of relief \u2014 there was still hope for the academy. Pavlovic\u2019s steady rise has meant he is now a guaranteed starter for Bayern. However, the youngster hasn\u2019t had it easy \u2014 from run-ins with illness, to an orbital fracture, he\u2019s seen too much of the bench.<\/p>\n
The anticipation and worry around Bayern\u2019s round of 16 of the Pokal game vs. Union Berlin were certainly high, with concerns of Bayern\u2019s dip in form and Union\u2019s recent style of play being more confident than ever before. Though the game itself was easily two-way, what was more concerning was the injury. Aleksander Pavlovic may be out injured yet again.<\/p>\n
The youngster clutched his thigh right as the second half started and could hardly move either \u2014 making it clear he needed to be subbed off immediately. This saw the entry of Leon Goretzka who quickly replaced the youngster. Speaking on Pavlovic\u2019s injury, director of sport Max Eberl said they hoped it was nothing bad.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope it\u2019s nothing bad, but I can\u2019t give a diagnosis yet,\u201d said Eberl, per @iMiaSanMia<\/a>.
