\n\tQuentin Tarantino<\/a> is not impressed with Paul Dano<\/a>\u2018s performance in Paul Thomas Anderson<\/a>\u2018s There Will Be Blood<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, the two-time Academy Award winner shared his list of the best movies of the 21st century. Tarantino ranked the 2007 western-thriller at number five, noting that it \u201cwould stand a better chance to be in number one or number two if it didn\u2019t have a big giant flaw in it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd the flaw is Paul Dano,\u201d Tarantino said on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, via People<\/a>. \u201cObviously, it\u2019s supposed to be a two-hander, and it\u2019s also so drastically obvious that it\u2019s not a two-hander. \u2026 He is weak sauce, man. He\u2019s a weak sister.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe director commended Daniel Day-Lewis<\/a>\u2018 performance in There Will Be Blood, which notably earned him an Oscar. \u201cDaniel Day-Lewis shows that he doesn\u2019t need [a strong foil in the movie].\u00a0He doesn\u2019t need anything. The movie would\u2019ve had more \u2014 there would\u2019ve been more stringiness to the beef. And again, it\u2019s supposed to be a two-hander, and it\u2019s not,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tEllis argued that Day-Lewis\u2019 portrayal of the role of Daniel Plainview was \u201cso gargantuan\u201d that it may have overtaken Dano. Tarantino responded to his theory, saying, \u201cSo you put him with the weakest male actor in SAG? The limpest dick in the world?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter reached out to representatives for Dano and did not hear back by the time of publication.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not saying he\u2019s giving a terrible performance,\u201d Tarantino continued. \u201cI\u2019m saying he\u2019s giving a non-entity [performance]. I don\u2019t care for him. I don\u2019t care for\u00a0Owen Wilson, I don\u2019t care for\u00a0Matthew Lillard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThere Will Be Blood earned two Academy Awards: one for Day-Lewis in the best actor category and another for cinematography. The film picked up a total of eight nods, with THR predicting its awards success in a 2007 review<\/a>.<\/p>\n
