\n\tTimoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> had a ball during his visit to CCXP to promote his new movie, Marty Supreme<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe star showed off his dance moves as he took the stage to Soulja Boy<\/a>\u2018s 2007 hit \u201cCrank That (Soulja Boy)\u201d while wearing a Marty Supreme jacket featuring the colors of the Brazilian flag. The movie\u2019s director, Josh Safdie<\/a>, also joined Chalamet at the fan event on the floor of the S\u00e3o Paulo Expo in Brazil<\/a> on Friday to discuss the film that A24<\/a> releases in theaters Dec. 25.<\/p>\n

\n\tOnlookers cheered loudly as the actor danced briefly to the song. Before taking a seat for a conversation about the film, Chalamet went over to the crowd, where a member of the audience handed him a Brazilian flag with a giant image of the star\u2019s face. Chalamet, wearing a tank top and track pants, draped the flag over his shoulders and then took his seat before eventually removing the flag.<\/p>\n

\n\tChalamet was full of energy as he and director Safdie repeatedly reminded fans to go see Marty Supreme<\/a> when it hits theaters. \u201cIf you don\u2019t like good movies, don\u2019t go see Marty Supreme,\u201d Chalamet quipped.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe moderator asked Chalamet what the star himself can learn from his character, Marty Mauser, an aspiring table tennis player in 1950s New York City. \u201cWhat I take from Marty \u2014 what I take with me today \u2014 is to keep dreaming, keep believing in yourself, don\u2019t fear negative opinions. If you\u2019ve got the opportunity to come out and do \u2018Crank That\u2019 in S\u00e3o Paulo \u2014 you know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLater that evening, Chalamet and Safdie moved to a different stage for a lengthier panel interview that included clips from the movie, and afterward, attendees received an orange ping-pong ball. Marty Supreme marks the filmmaker\u2019s first solo feature after he and his brother, Benny Safdie, co-directed such acclaimed projects as Good Time and Uncut Gems. Benny Safdie helmed his own A24 sports-focused feature, The Smashing Machine, which hit theaters earlier this year and starred Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.<\/p>\n

\n\tSafdie and Chalamet praised the cast of Marty Supreme, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A\u2019zion, Kevin O\u2019Leary and Tyler, the Creator. According to the director, the movie \u201cis about a hardcore dreamer\u201d and \u201ceverything that the world does to a dream to kill it and suppress it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked about the other performers who inspire him, Chalamet mentioned \u201cthe greats before me \u2014 the Denzel Washingtons, the Leonardo DiCaprios, the people who laid a path that you aspire to as a young man, as a young artist.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn his review of Marty Supreme<\/a> for The Hollywood Reporter, chief film critic David Rooney praised Chalamet\u2019s \u201chot-wired\u201d performance and wrote that the \u201cgenre-defying original is an exhilarating sports comedy, a scrappy character study, a thrumming evocation of early \u201950s New York City \u2014 plus a reimagining of all those things.\u201d<\/p>\n
