{"id":330083,"date":"2025-12-07T10:07:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T10:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/330083\/"},"modified":"2025-12-07T10:07:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T10:07:11","slug":"new-york-woman-charged-with-smuggling-people-from-canada-into-the-u-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/330083\/","title":{"rendered":"New York woman charged with smuggling people from Canada into the U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A New York woman has been charged with smuggling four people \u2014 three Indian nationals and one Canadian \u2014 into the U.S. from Canada, according to a U.S. Department of Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/new-york-woman-charged-smuggling-aliens-canada-profit\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/new-york-woman-charged-smuggling-aliens-canada-profit\">press release<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cStacey Taylor, 42, of Plattsburgh, New York, appeared for an arraignment Monday after a federal grand jury in Albany returned an indictment on Oct. 2 charging her for her role in an international alien smuggling conspiracy that brought aliens primarily from India into the United States across the northern border,\u201d the press release read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the release, Taylor\u2019s vehicle was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol near Churubusco, New York on Jan. 20, near the Canada-U.S. border \u2014 just over 70 km away from the Island of Montreal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">U.S. Border Patrol found four individuals inside the vehicle, with the release noting they had crossed the border illegally and without inspection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Upon further investigation, U.S. Border Patrol found text messages on Taylor\u2019s phone indicating that she had been involved in multiple other smuggling events, including one in August and September of this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Taylor is charged with conspiring with others to engage in \u201calien smuggling,\u201d and four counts of \u201calien smuggling\u201d for profit.
