Before his time in Minnesota, Casson was chief operating officer for the San Francisco 49ers, where he played a key role in the development and naming rights for Levi\u2019s Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing named president of the Dallas Mavericks is an extraordinary honor,\u201d Casson said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m deeply grateful to Rick and Patrick for their trust in me to help lead this iconic franchise\u2014one poised not only to compete at the highest level on the court, but to deliver a world-class experience for the most passionate and loyal fans in the NBA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mavericks Governor Patrick Dumont emphasized that Casson\u2019s appointment is part of the organization\u2019s larger vision to become a top-tier professional sports franchise and enhance the game-day experience for fans, including future plans for a new arena and entertainment district in Dallas. Welts, who was hired as CEO earlier this year, will now focus on major strategic projects as Casson oversees daily operations.<\/p>\n<p>Casson\u2019s arrival comes during a period of transformation for the Mavericks, following a tumultuous offseason that included the trade of Luka Doncic and the drafting of Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick.
