\n\tTwo years after Melissa Barrera<\/a>\u2018s unceremonious ousting from the Scream<\/a> franchise, one star revealed he won\u2019t appear in the next slasher installment either.<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite multiple franchise alums set to reprise their roles, Skeet Ulrich<\/a> recently explained that he\u2019s \u201cnot involved\u201d with Scream 7<\/a> after Barrera was fired<\/a>, noting that his character Billy Loomis was connected to her character Sam Carpenter\u2019s storyline.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not involved. I\u2019m really excited though,\u201d he told the New York Post<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m excited for [original Scream (1996) writer] Kevin Williamson<\/a> to take the helm and to see what the mastermind of it all comes up with. I have no clue.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUlrich added, \u201cI used to know because part of coming back for five and six was being a part of seven. It was a three-picture arc for Billy Loomis, or the imagination of Billy Loomis in Melissa Barrera<\/a>\u2018s character\u2019s head. But when all that went down with her, obviously you lose her and you lose what\u2019s in her head.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter he and Matthew Lillard<\/a>\u2018s Stu Macher were unmasked as the Ghostface killers in the first Scream, Ulrich reprised his role as Billy in the Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023), as a ghostly vision who visits his illegitimate daughter Sam (Barrera).<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore Barrera\u2019s firing, Ulrich noted he was privy to the original plot for Scream 7, which included both of their characters, and it \u201cwas really, really interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for the possibility of returning for a future sequel, Ulrich said, \u201cI don\u2019t know how, given the set up. But, you know, it\u2019s horror. And I think the great thing about Scream in general was it was all based in reality that this could happen. You don\u2019t know who as you\u2019re walking down the street could be a killer or not. So I hope if it does, it doesn\u2019t get so far fetched that it blows that premise.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpyglass fired Barrera<\/a> in November 2023 over her social media posts in support of Palestine, explaining the company has \u201czero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing her ousting, Jenna Ortega also exited the franchise<\/a>, later noting that the sequel \u201cwas all kind of falling apart\u201d without Barrera to play its new \u2018final girl\u2019 Sam Carpenter.<\/p>\n
