Matthew Lillard<\/a> is reacting to Quentin Tarantino<\/a>‘s criticism of his acting.\n<\/p>\n While appearing at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, Dec. 6, the 55-year-old actor addressed the director’s recent viral comments on the Dec. 2 episode of the Bret Easton Ellis Podcast<\/a>. During the conversation with Ellis, Tarantino said, “I don\u2019t care for Matthew Lillard.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Chatting with the audience at GalaxyCon, Lillard said, “Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn\u2019t like me as an actor,\u201d eliciting lots of loud boos, as seen in a video<\/a> shared on TikTok.\n<\/p>\n “Yeah, whatever. Who gives a s—,” the Scream star said in reaction to the crowd’s boos.\n<\/p>\n “Listen,” he then continued, “the point is that it hurts your feelings. It f—— sucks.”\n<\/p>\n “And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise<\/a>,” he insisted. “You wouldn\u2019t say that to somebody who\u2019s a top-line actor in Hollywood.\u201d\n<\/p>\n Matthew Lillard at New York Comic Con on Oct. 9, 2025.<\/p>\n Valerie Terranova\/Getty<\/p>\n Lillard went on to admit that while he’s “very popular in this room,” he’s “not very popular in Hollywood.”\n<\/p>\n “Two totally different microcosms, right?” he explained. “And so, you know, it\u2019s humbling, and it hurts.\u201d\n<\/p>\n An audience member then yelled out, “We love you,” prompting Lillard to smile and say, “Thank you.”\n<\/p>\n Tarantino, 62, didn’t just take aim at Lillard during his podcast appearance. During a discussion with Ellis about his top 10 movies of the 21st century, the Reservoir Dogs director called Paul Dano “the weakest male actor in SAG [Screen Actors Guild]” while discussing Dano’s 2007 western movie\u00a0There Will Be Blood.\n<\/p>\n Matthew Lillard in ‘Scream’ (1996).<\/p>\n Dimension Films<\/p>\n Tarantino also said he “really can’t stand”<\/a> Owen Wilson<\/a>. He shared that his decision to reprise his role as the horror-movie-obsessed accomplice to Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich<\/a>) wasn\u2019t an easy one.\n<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m nervous, because at this point in my life, the only thing I can do is sort of ruin how people consider Stu,\u201d he said of his character. \u201c[Especially] if I come back and I suck or I was lame.”\n<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t seen the movie yet,\u201d he admitted. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it works, but it\u2019s a risk. And it\u2019s a risk that I was excited to take.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \u201cAt the same time, I\u2019m nervous to see the outcome. I hope people like it,\u201d Lillard added.<\/p>\n
