\n\tJudi Dench<\/a> has commented on her current feelings toward Kevin Spacey<\/a> and Harvey Weinstein<\/a>, who each played a part in the Oscar-winning actress\u2019 life and career before their respective #MeToo allegations. <\/p>\n

\n\tSpacey, who starred alongside Dench in the 2001 film \u201cThe Shipping News,\u201d comforted her after her husband Michael Williams\u2019 death that same year. Meanwhile, Weinstein was instrumental in her career when his production company Miramax acquired the 1997 drama \u201cMrs. Brown,\u201d which was Dench\u2019s first lead film role.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking in a new interview with The Radio Times<\/a> about her thoughts on forgiveness, the 90-year-old Dench said that Spacey \u201chas been exonerated\u201d and they \u201ctext.\u201d Spacey was acquitted of sexual assault charges in a U.K. criminal trial in 2023 and was also found not liable in a civil case brought in New York in 2022. However, the actor is set to face three more claims of sexual assault<\/a> in London civil court next year. <\/p>\n

\n\tOf Weinstein, who has now been convicted of rape and is serving prison time, Dench said: \u201cI saw a bit of film of Harvey walking with two sticks and you think, \u2018Well\u2026\u2019 \u2018I knew Harvey and I knew him well and worked with him, and I had none of that experience \u2014 very fortunately for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough she has empathy for his victims, Dench continued, \u201cI imagine he\u2019s done his time\u2026 I don\u2019t know, to me it\u2019s personal \u2014 forgiveness.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDench has previously spoken with The Radio Times about Spacey and Weinstein, telling the British publication in 2019<\/a> that their work should be separated from their alleged offenses. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAre we going to negate 10 years at the Old Vic and everything that he did, how wonderful he\u2019s been in all those films?\u201d Dench said of Spacey. \u201cAre we just not going to see all those films that Harvey produced? You cannot deny somebody a talent. You might as well never look at a Caravaggio painting. You might as well never have gone to see Noel Coward.\u201d<\/p>\n
